I Voted Today! (er...any Edmontonians here?) |
|
Yeah, that's right, Edmonton's municipal election was held today (Oct. 18). They're expecting about 25 to 30% turnout, which is pretty damn low.
Robert Noce was my pick, since it's time for Smith to go (not to mention, his Churchill Square renovation doesn't impress me at all and will be a huge strain on taxpayers -- the things like a huge concrete slab -- useless!). My choice was therefore between Noce and Mandel -- and since the Edmonton Sun wholeheartedly endorsed Mandel, I definitely gravitated towards Noce.
So, any other E-Towners up in here?

I left sometime during the tenure of Jan Reimer. I'm embarassed to admit that I wasn't sure who the current mayor of Edmonton was, but I see from your post that it's still Bill Smith. I always thought he was a tool. Didn't he vote against expansion of the LRT because "people like their cars"? Hey Bill -- come down to where I live (just north of NYC) and try to drive to and from work in rush hour and then tell me how much you like your car!
I heard ex-tieless-Alderman Tooker Gomberg died recently. That's sad. The first election I ever voted in, at age 18, was an Edmonton municipal election. I voted Reimer for mayor, and Gomberg/Phair for City Council, all of whom won election. If only I retained that magic touch.
