Have you seen the Poppy Quarters?

They are being issued for Remembrance Day. They have a red poppy in the centre of them. They say that they're the first coloured coin in the world.

Our national Remembrance Day ceremonies are very nice. They're basically the same every year. I like tradition. We also televise them nationally - live.

wtf? "Available only at Tim Horton's"? Cripes, now even our *money* is sponsored??

It will be available from financial institutions "in the months following the coin's unveil". And once the people who buy things at Tim Horton's (not I, more than once or twice a year) spend 'em at the 7-11, I guess.

Well, this is the best I could do for a pic of the thing. I tried the "send an e-poppy" stuff, sent myself one, and got a message that didn't contain a clickable link (had to reveal the codes to find it). But here's what it looks like:

I've got the children quarter and that odd one that looks like a ring design on it though.
