OTTAWA — Quebec's softwood lumber industry officially joined the chorus of critics on Tuesday against the trade agreement between Canada and the United States.
Following the adoption of a resolution by its members, the Quebec Forest Industry Council announced that it was rejecting the proposed deal unless four amendments are adopted.
"(The agreement) doesn't really correspond to what the industry wants," council president Guy Chevrette told a news conference.
"We have negotiated an agreement that is perfectly in accord with what was agreed to in April and which satisfied the industry," an official told The Canadian Press.
