Canada terror suspect released on bail

BRAMPTON, Ontario - A suspect in an alleged plot to blow up public buildings in southern Ontario was granted bail with relatively lenient conditions Thursday.

Ahmad Ghany, 21, was freed on $123,000 bail and ordered to stay at his parents' home. If accompanied by a parent or guardian he can go to work, school, court, a hospital or his lawyer's office - though he must not communicate with the other defendants.

Seventeen suspects, including five teenagers, were arrested June 2 and charged with participating in a terrorist group and other terrorist-related offenses.

Seven of them are accused of attempting to acquire three times the amount of explosives responsible for the devastating Oklahoma City federal building bombing, and plotting to bomb targets in Ontario.
