Soldier's Wife Wants Answers

The wife of a Canadian soldier missing and presumed dead in an Israeli air strike on a United Nations observation post in southern Lebanon says she believes the attack was intentional.

Without wanting to get ahead of things, I wonder if Harper has met his Cindy Sheehan?

I wonder about this because I saw the wife -- Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener -- on the news last night, and she is a mature, assertive and quite collected woman, the sort of a partner you'd expect for a seasoned, military veteran.

She certainly doesn't come across as someone who will quietly disappear without answers to her questions.

Because of this, I suspect Harper may come to regret having been so slow off the mark to express any sorrow over this killing, and may particularly regret having responded inappropriately and ideologically by trying to blame the UN for the actions of the out-of-control Israeli military.

Wouldn't surprise me if the GOP-derivative Canadian neocon bloggery isn't getting charged up right now to try to "swift boat" the edceased Major and his wife. Great fun for them, but I wonder how Canadians would take to a Rovian-style trashing of a citizen who is declared a political "enemy".
