Canadians Oppose Mission in Afghanistan |
|
- Many adults in Canada believe their country’s soldiers should not have been deployed to Afghanistan, according to a poll by The Strategic Council released by CTV and the Globe and Mail. 55 per cent of respondents oppose the decision to send Canadian troops to the area. http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/index.cfm/fuseaction/viewItem/itemID/12839

I support our troops and oppose religious fundamentalists like the Taliban. Maybe the Taliban were right when they predicted that Canadians were cowards and would turn against the mission in Afghanistan at the first significant sign of resistance by the Taliban. I think Afghanistani women need the support of people who live in western countries. Allow the Taliban to regain control will make their lives more miserable in the long run.

2. Geez, I support the troops too but that doesn't mean I also think |
|
they should be replacement fodder for US troops so more US troops can go into Iraq killing innocent Iraqis, torturing them, etc. We went there as peacekeepers and to aid in reconstruction, I supported that. I DO NOT support the change in mission, it was only done as a salve to bush for not going into Iraq, it was for strictly political reasons and our troops should not be sacrificed for political expediency.

3. Let Bush have his Vietnam-like quagmire in Iraq |

Maybe Canada can take the glory for once by taking the lead in a war that is just, the one in Afghanistan against an insurgent group of religious fundamentalist who believe that women are sub-human and should not be seen in public.
Sometimes peacekeeping is not enough. The government in Afghanistan and their military needs our helps in this war. Have you considered the fact that social-democratic countries like France and Germany are also involved in this effort?
I'm proud of the effort of our brave Canadian soldiers to fight for what is right. This is not about fighting Bush's war, it's about human rights and freedom for the people of Afghanistan. I'm glad Canada is taking the lead in this effort while Bush has foolishly focussed most of his efforts on the quagmire in Iraq.

LOL...Moderate just like George W. Bush...is the human right's schtick just camoflague for your treasonous support of America, right? You know when our troops were first deployed in under US command in Operation Enduring Clusterfuck...we had to take our flags off our uniforms and equipment?
Where were the 'fake' nationalist chickenhawks then?

5. Free speech and differing opinions... |

are basic rights in our society. I don't believe all liberals need to be confirmists to your pacifist utopia. I consider myself to be socially liberal and I refuse to allign myself against our Canadian troops who strongly support their mission. They are fighting for a good cause.
Now fuck off and quit stalking me. ;o)

I seriously hope you were being sarcastic there. I reminder the sign
As for freedom, I was born and grew up in Western Europe, in the Netherlands to be specific. They were the ultimate social-democracy at one time and have since had to change their approach. In many ways so their 1970's and 1980's approach to achieve a social-democratic Utopia was not sustainable. There are many forms of liberalism and I refuse to believe that your's is any more progressive than mine.
I refuse to be tolerant of intolerant people. Why are we even listening to what the hell fundamentalists have to say? Apparently in your world, you only have an intolerance for fundamentalist Jews and Christians. I happily add fundamentalist Muslims and any other religious fundamentlists to my list of groups I will not tolerate.
So fuck off and quit making excuses for terrorists.
