[Saskatchewan Editorial] Now you see them, and now you don't
Behold the wondrous magic of equalization politics in Saskatchewan!

Shazam! Mysterious plain brown envelopes magically make their way into the possession of no less than three different reporters working at the Saskatchewan Legislative Press Gallery.

The contents? Nothing less than a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper from Prince Albert Conservative MP Brian Fitzpatrick foretelling the doom of Saskatchewan

Conservative MPs should the federal government not fulfill its election promise on equalization.

Hocus-pocus! The Fitzpatrick letter reveals that what was a Tory "commitment" to remove non-renewable resources from the federal equalization formula during the election campaign, that suddenly became a "preference" after the Conservatives were elected, actually is a "commitment" after all when Tories discuss the equalization issue in private.

Abracadabra! When reporters attempt to contact Saskatchewan's 14 MPs on the above inconsistency, they all have suddenly disappeared.

So how do they do it? What's behind the magic?

Well, no good magician ever reveals his secrets.
