Canada, you will be happy to hear this about one of your hockey stars

Well actually, he's one of OUR hockey stars now. I'm talking about Brendan Shanahan, one of a long list of Canadian born hockey superstars that have entertained the rabid hockey fans here in Detroit. Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman also come to mind. Like Howe, Yzerman and Shanahan will also make it into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Tonight at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena, we were treated to a speech by Brendan where he proclaimed his intent to vote for John Kerry for President of the USA. Like us here in the USA, and those in the rest of the world, you Canadians will be much better off after Kerry takes office. Brendan recently became a citizen of the States, and he earned the right to vote.

I didn't get any good photos of him when he was up on the stage speaking, but I did get a couple of fair shots of him on the floor after he spoke:





Now watching Brendan play hockey in the Joe is my SECOND favorite thing to see him do.

I just wanted to say that. And that said, I'm not impressed by hockey players or any other Cdn celebs who assume US citizenship. Maybe if he did it expressly so he could vote against Bush ...

3. Why not? They're dual citizens.

They pay taxes in the USA so they should have a say in matters.

Same goes for Americans living (3 years or more) in Canada.

This is the only time I have ever wished I had dual citizenship so I could vote for Kerry but, seeing as I don't, I am thrilled Brendan did it for me!
