Lets send affection and good wishes to our American Friends
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 12:31 AM by Parrcrow
This is, afterall, an American site. Skinner has given us our own forum and DUers have treated all of us and our country with friendship and respectful curiosity. Hoping that I don't sound condescending, I do not hesitate to say that DUers are the most Canadian-like of Americans.

They need our encouragement now more than ever.

I, for one, feel pretty beaten down. And your kindness is appreciated.

7. David Gergen on Larry King said that a Kerry supporting friend
of his told him that he feels like an expatriate in his own country - like he doesn't belong. He also said some Kerry supporters were so despondent that it was like they had had a death in the family.

Gergen is right.

8. I think without DU I would have lapsed into lazy anti-Americanism.
DU presents a different American face - actually, many American faces - to the world, which the world needs to see more often.

18. That's it. I fight anti-Americanism.
We have to reach out to, not reject our brothers and sisters.

10. Chin Up
What comes to mind is a saying I was tought as a youngster and it came back to me today:

"I am hurt, but I'm not dead
I am wounded, but I'm not slain
I'll lay me down and bleed awhile
Then rise to fight again."
-- Old Scottish Proverb

I really enjoy and appreciate this site.

Thanks

13. Thank you, Parrcrow. Wish I lived in your great country. Only DU
and my hubby and kids and pets have kept me sane these past four years. Every other friend and family member is a Bushit worshipper. I hope some of the people in this world know not all citizens of the United States are pleased to have four more years. But, I would hate to be an American abroad at the moment.
Stayed at a B&B in Revelstoke for a week. Beautiful country youall have, and unspoiled by a red state mentality.

I love your country and I am have always felt at home whenever I have been there. If this country gets in a worse state than it is now, I am seriously considering changing my citizenship.

Glad that you are there.

15. Great post Parrcrow
This Canadian loves America. I am just as sickened as all of you, by what they are doing to your wonderful country.

Once the shock wears off, pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off, and get back to fighting the good fight. The entire world is on your side as you battle the forces of evil over the next 4 years. We're all here for you, cheering you on.

17. It's been a couple of days now, and I'm still so upset
And I at least have the 49th insulating me from him somewhat.

All I can offer you is that you've had bad presidents before, and you have survived. Unfortunately, you get scarred in the process.

Good luck my friends.

20. I, too, want to offer my sympathies and best wishes...
we, here in Canada, are also stunned at the results of the Nov 2 election. Hang in there and fight like hell to take your country back! You will do it, it will just take longer than any of us thought. In the interim, I fear greatly that the deconstruction of your Constitution will accelerate.

22. As a Canadian,
I must say thanks. America is a great country with good people. Many Canucks are far too harsh when it comes to America because of what I believe is a younger sibling syndrome. Some of us feel like our culture has been hijacked by US culture, but many of us feel the opposite. I only wish that America could be freer. To me, too many Americans have been brainwashed with this * puke. The erosion of privacy, security and individual rights is disgusting and it must be corrected. Dems all across the US and the world tried their damned hardest to do this but were undermined by a fraudulent election process. To the DUers: you guys rock! I have been lurking on this site for a few months and finally registered last week. I am so glad I did, because coming here always brightens my day.

hugs!!

25. If I had any money, I'd be far beyond the door by now.
Believe me, I'm saving up. I only hope the door isn't locked when I try to get out. (And it would be locked from this side, no doubt, just to punish those of us too smart to fall for *'s garbage.)

Help me Mr. Wizard! lol? :)

26. Absolutely
As an American who left after the last election, I fully support the efforts of DU members! Just remember folks you have friends to the North, even if you can't or don't want to move you have a place to take refuge and recharge your batteries.

Peace!
Justin
