My apologies to my Canadian brothers and sisters for the results of the |
|
election. I am so sorry that for whatever reason America let the world down.
But, we really fought hard. There was an uprising like I haven't seen since Nixon was in the OO.
If it's any consolation, Kerry received more votes than anyone previously elected to the US Presidency. More Americans voted against Bush than any other President in US history. But, for whatever reason (fraud) bigotry, ignorance ... Bush will likely sit his smug ass in the rulers chair for 4 more.
Thank Gawd for term limits ey? He's done in 4 years regardless ...
Again, my apologies to Canada and the world. :(

1. Why do you direct this apology mainly to Canada? |
|
Is it because so many of us wish to move there now?
Actually, I feel like apologizing to the world, but if limited to one country, I would choose France, where Bush's approval rating was 5 percent, and where there was so much anti-French feeling in this country.

Note where I said: AMERICA LET THE WORLD DOWN and "Again, my apologies to Canada and the world."
I think that covers everybody. ;)
And, yes I have considered a move.

2. Hey, it's not YOUR fault |
|
I appreciate the sentiments, but it's not the people who campaigned against Bush that ought to apologize. We know you worked hard to get him out, and I don't think any Canadian is going to hold you responsible.
I'm sure most of us want you to keep fighting there, don't give up hope, and remember that if there's a way we can help, just let us know. Be specific, as well: if there are concrete strategies where Canadians can actually make a difference, give us the details and we'll see what we can do.

5. No apology needed, imo, from those who fought the good fight... |
|
and are still fighting to prove Kerry actually won! I and, I am sure other Canadian DUers, will do all we can from our country to help in any way we can. We are going away and I will be doing all I can to call attention to the 'anomalies' in the voting process that took place. I don't believe the US media will touch it but maybe, just maybe, CBC's Fifth Estate or CTV's investigative programs will pick it up.
Don't give up yet, we all have until late Dec or early Jan to get the truth out!

I understand why you'd feel you should apologize to us in particular. We, individually, are right here in rather large numbers, so you "know" us; and we, collectively, are your next-door neighbour and long-time ally and friend.
I think collective apologies by individuals are nice. I appreciated not just condolences, but apologies, from USAmericans after the killing of the Cdn soldiers in Afghanistan. Apologies are just plain good manners (and like most things that are good manners to do, are good for the person doing them too, because they make other people like them better ;) ).
You aren't personally responsible for what happened in the election. (And actually, I think that's something that a lot of people in the US, who worked hard and feel frustrated and somehow like they failed, need to consciously remember -- nobody's responsible for what someone else does. We do have responsibilities to other people and our societies -- but we can't make anybody do anything, or change.)
But you as an individual are also part of a collective, and you're as entitled to speak for it as anyone else. For you to want to speak up on its behalf, to dissociate yourself from those in it who spoke in a way that you want to reject and denounce, is a pretty natural and quite decent impulse.
So from me: thanks.

7. You don't need to apologize |
|
you didn't vote for him. And neither did any 51% of Americans. They stole this one too.

I won't accept it from you. I want an apology from the folks that voted for *. Dems are not to blame - never, no. Also, please stay and fight for the US. I refuse to believe, like so many other canucks, that Americans are stupid - you are not!! As a Canadian, I feel that I need to thank Americans for many things past and present. Please work for change, please! I want a safe world and that can only be acheived with a Dem in power.
kisses and hugs:loveya:
