Do you like Big Rock? If so, you prolly shouldn't read this |
|
From an article in the Calgary Herald (sorry, no link, you need to be a subscriber to view it):
Big Rock founder and chairman Ed McNally is a long-time associate of Ralph Klein
Bog Rock president Bob King is a former deputy minister under Steve West, who is now Ralph's chief of staff. He was also chairman of the Alberta Liquor Control Board.
Teresa Klein, Ralph's daughter, is Big Rock's director of communications.
Big Rock has given the Alberta PC Party the maximum allowable donation, $15,000, in each of the past two yeasrs. Other parties get not so much as a nickel.
Big Rock continues to receive a big tax break normally reserved for microbreweries.
I've suspected something like this for a while now, and I haven't bought Big Rock lately. Now I won't buy it ever again. Good thing there's lots of other good beers available.

I doubt there are many Calgary businessmen who don't support Ralph Klein.

Big Rock is so good, I'll drink it anyway. That is to say, when I can get it, which is damn rarely ever since moving to the USA.
I even called Big Rock and asked if they'd ship me some. They won't. My only chance to get it is to drive to the Quebec border, 12+ hours away. Bleah.
Fortunately, there IS good American beer, from microbreweries.

Take advantage of Big Rock, I lived in Alberta for a year and you can Alberta Genuine Draft real cheap, 6$ for a 6 pack, Love it.
Also go take the big rock brewery tour if you can, The tour is about 20 minutes but afterwards you receive an OPEN BAR (with pretzals) they gave us tones of free hard cover posters, tshirts, toques, a gourmet meal made by head chef and yea an OPEN BAR, they wouldnt let us leave until we were completly smashed. Good times
