WINNIPEG — Lisa Klassen has no memory of the accident that nearly killed her, but says she felt the hand of God throughout her recovery.
The 23-year-old flight instructor looked in good spirits yesterday, smiling often and answering questions about the morning, 10 days ago, when the Jeep she was driving flipped over the edge of a bridge and landed upside down on the frozen Red River.
She was saved by passersby who pulled her out of the Jeep as it filled with water and performed CPR to get her breathing again.
"It was a miracle. It was God's hand, and obviously it wasn't my time," she said. "I know everything is a part of His plan." http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080215.wklassen15/BNStory/National/homeMakes me wonder why god flipped over her jeep to begin with. Was it just a slow day in heaven and he wanted some entertainment?
I note in the article that she doesn't really credit the people who rescued her, as much as acknowledge just how "baffling" it was that they showed up, risked their own lives, and had the right skills to save her life.
She said she has heard a lot about her rescue, although hasn't seen any of the photos of the crash site, and has met with the two men who pulled her from the Jeep.
"I'm sure I thanked them. It was just really incredible to meet them, the fact that they were there and were willing to save my life and then risk their lives - it's just baffling," she said. These delusional, born-again idiots annoy me to no end. If one of them went into the river in front of me, I'd be sorely tempted to stand by and wait to see if god shows up to rescue them.
