Marc Garneau on potential sale of MDA to the USA
Marc Garneau sees the situation from a unique vantage, as a retired astronaut and the head of the Canadian Space Agency until 2005. For him, the decision is a no-brainer.

"MDA is the only company in the country that can build large, complex satellites; simple as that.

"Government consciously nurtured this company ... Through government funding, we have helped to build a world-class company, and if it gets sold to the U.S. along with the technologies, it's gone, and we would have to start over from scratch.

"If we are a sovereign country and believe in our sovereignty, we better start behaving like a sovereign country."
