1. What is happening to CBC lately?

It seems to me the quality of their programming has suffered. Not as many things live as before. Has Harper's slimy fingers reached in to the CBC somehow to take away funds they need? I know there is nothing he and his right wing buddies would like nothing better than to see the CBC fail.

2. Nope, nothing to do with the government

What it is, is the brass at CBC figure they can make money if they run it as if it was there to make money. So, they downsize and all this shit. As well, they are completely destroying radio whilst putting all that funding and attention to TV, cause they can sell ads for TV.

4. Conservative governments hate the CBC

They've been trying to get rid of it for generations. Their latest excuse is that it's not profitable. It's not supposed to BE profitable! The CBC's mandate is to promote national unity and identity.

That seems to be where all the resistance to a public broadcaster comes from.

They should be happy.
