One Canada or 10 Canadas?
An excellent article on Harper's agenda, which points out an earlier statement of his, and then expands on it.

This is exactly where Harper is going with his 'incremental steps'. I highly recommend it.

'Earlier, speaking to a meeting of the National Citizens Coalition on May 24, 1994, Harper said: "Whether Canada ends up with one national government, or two governments or 10 governments, the Canadian people will require less government no matter what the constitutional status or arrangements of any future country may be."'

1. Free Alberta!
In order to achieve his goals of a Free and independent Alberta (Free of the poor saps in the rest of Canada and Independent of any outside and possibly rational influence other than Big Oil), Harps must first find a way to liberate all provinces. He's so far in the pocket of multinational oil that destroying the viability and cohesion of one of the world's most peaceful and prosperous nations seems logical to him. Also: recommend the new book 'Stupid to the Last Drop', a book outlining how Alberta's oilpatch is destined to become an ecological black hole.

2. Bloc Alberta?
Well that's how he acts, although I suspect he's looking to the US for admittance after Canada breaks up.

Wonder what they promised him.

3. North American Union
Harper badly wants a North American Union. He at least understands that Canadians will not go for any kind of perceived absorption by the US. However, like the right-wing weasel he is, he knows that the back door option is to dis-unify the provinces by promising all kinds of autonomy and then let the overwhelming US economic leverage maneuver each province into a North American Union, which of course the US will dominate. And he'll be so proud.

6. Well, what goes on in your bedroom
is important to Tories. It's about the only thing that is, really.
