so, which George W. Bush is going to show up in Halifax? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 06:52 PM by Lisa
A field guide ...
"Statesmanlike (sorta) Bush" -- suit and tie, carefully-coiffed hair, and thinly-disguised disdain. Recites professionally-written speech, which he then proceeds to ruin by blurting out snide comments at francophone reporters.
"The Connecticut Cowpoke" -- quasi-casual clothes, e.g. black dress pants and blue gingham shirt. Starts off speech by directing aggressively-jovial comments at host city's mayor ("fill those potholes"). Goes downhill from there. Assumes that the people he sees are uneducated yokels, and prefaces what he thinks are "difficult" words with oversimplified (and usually incorrect) explanations which the audience already knows are wrong, since they've all completed 8th grade, thank you very much. Grins idiotically and inserts what he thinks are folksy expressions, ranging from recent TV catchphrases to garbled phrases which he's basically made up himself. Hee-yuck.
"Mr. Pitiful" -- messed-up hair, bags under eyes, rumpled suit jacket, no tie. In hopes of pre-empting any criticism, launches immediately into how sad he's been since 9/11, since he hasn't been able to jog as much as he'd like. Adds that the presidency is hard work. He misses Laura and the dogs. Did he mention the hard work?

3. Probably "Mr. Pitiful," |
|
since he's there to wax poetic about 9/11 and the helpful Haligonians.

The ostensible ppoint for visiting Halifax is to thank them for helping all the people who were stranded there on 9/11. Of course, he's three years late; he's been screwing Canada on timber and beef and salmon imports; and he's trying to claim we shouldn't import Canadian drugs because they're unsafe, so his little thank-you photo-op is going to look very, very phony. Anyhow, the word is now that he won't even leave the Halifax airport because he's so afraid of protesters. I wouldn't be surprised if he made some lame little five-minute speech from the airstairs of Air Force One and then got the hell out of town. In that case it wouldn't matter much which persona he chose.

Duplicitous douchebag. Our civilized neighbors to the north know one when they see one. Why the fuck is he going to Halifax? Does he think he'll be welcomed? Give him hell Nova Scotia!

That he will try to play for more votes for Harper and to show other countries that since Powell has left his side that he is very open.
Anyone notice how quiet Paul C. has been in the last six months or so. Wonder if that means that he has achieved his objective?

10. The buffoon drunk accompanied by his painfully submissive upholstry |
|
wearing, overly botoxed waxed, platitude speaking Xanaxed wife, or perhaps he will bring along his exhibitionist, proud boob revealing, nightgown attired, lovely twins to wow and bowl over the Canadians with their exceptional cleavage and make Canadians love him forever for bringing them, their giggles and their boobs, to their immediate attention as proof that he is indeed, a great "war president"
It's all about image, doncha know.

His girls look skank compared to Canadian women. I cannot believe I am writing a post based on appearances.

13. Do not think for a moment that those "apearances" |
|
are innocent. It is all a part of the manufactured image of King George, his harem and Karl Rove. Those "appearances" were done on purpose, especially during the campaign.
my two cents.

16. they should have told him it would be in Saint John, New Brunswick ... |
|
I could just imagine him and his entire entourage, standing around in St. John's, Newfoundland -- hey, if he gets Sweden and Switzerland mixed up, that could very easily happen.
