Anyone here familiar with Lakehead University in Thunder Bay?
A colleague of mine is applying for a faculty position there, and he reeeeeealllllllly wants to get it.

What's the university like? I'd like to help him in any way I can.
Thanks,
Sabriel

1. i think Macleans magazine has a canadian university ratings
issue every year....and that might give you some idea of what Lakehead U is like in terms of other universities (if i remember correctly, Lakehead generally ranges in the first 20)...Macleans has a website where you can access the info. Thunder Bay is a mid size city of about 120k people, right on Lake superior. i lived there for a few years while working on the freighters....

3. You mean "Lunkhead U"?
That's what people I know who've gone there call it. But they then proceed to speak very fondly of it.

4. I've spent time in the Thunder Bay area....
during the last three summers. For anyone into hiking, "big water," and scenery it is wonderful! Last summer I was there during The Fringe Festival, so I know there are some cultural activities. However, if your friend requires four (or three, or even two) star restaurants and that sort of thing, it's a bit of a wasteland. Unless I really missed something.
