Canadians: please post your cable or satellite service here.
I am trying to research cable and satellite facilities in my quest to find work up there. So far, I have a short list, but would like to expand it as much as possible.

If it's not too much to ask, can you please reply with the name of your television service provider? All I need is a name, but if you have more info I'll gladly take it!

Thanks in advance for helping out!

13. Yup, we're Cogeco too...
in Oakville. Cogeco has a bloc to the west of Toronto, along the north shore of Lake Ontario.

9. Bell ExpressVu...
We're pretty satisfied with it--good selection of channels and generally good reception. It's gone down a few times during heavy icing, but has otherwise been dependable.

10. I also have Bell Expressvu
but there is a commercial satellite service provider in my area called TeleSat.

They used to be owned by the feds, and are now a private company. Difficult to get into, I think they must recruit alot of grads or hand-pick selected folks from the city who want a lifestyle change to the country, as they are approx. 2 1/2 hrs NW of Toronto.

11. lists of lists
All cable/satellite distributors have to be licensed by the Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commission, so there's a place to look:

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/lists_b.htm

Here's a description of how licensing works:
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/ENG/INFO_SHT/CDBT4.HTM

but I'm not finding a list anywhere of all licensed cable distributors. It almost looks like one would have to go through all decisions/orders for the last few years to find what companies had been issued licences (or had them renewed).

The listed members at the site someone gave above seem to be small distributors localized in small centres. Biggies like Rogers and Shaw and Bell aren't members.

Ah, this may help:
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/industry.htm

By checking, e.g., http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/ind_broad.htm#charts

Broadcasting Industries at a Glance

Cable Customer Service Groups – Descriptions of the Customer Service Groups operated by the four largest cable companies:

Cogeco Cable Inc.
Rogers Cable Inc.
Shaw Cable Inc.
Vidéotron ltée

... Ownership Charts – View multiple ownership charts outlining the corporate structure of licensees and their holding companies:

Simplified Index: Search by name of major organizations for information about their licensed holdings.

Detailed Index: Search by name of company involved in broadcasting for information about its place within multiple ownership structures.
you could probably find what you wanted.

The broadcasting sector, including cable/satellite distribution, is highly regulated in Canada, and entry is limited for a variety of reasons, so you might be expecting to find more distributors than you have on your "short list", but find that your list is already essentially complete.
