Wow... CFAX call-in show about offering sanctuary for US deserters/dodgers
I'm amazed at the number of anti-sanctuary callers they had. Usually CFAX (Victoria) is pretty left-centrist, but I'd say it was a 3:1 ratio of callers who don't like the idea of harbouring US military deserters/draft dodgers/consciencious objectors destined for Iraq.

I'm surprised at the level of intolerance displayed. Mostly along the lines of "the US are our allies and we souldn't help their soldiers evade their duty" slant.

So weird coming from Canadians.

For the record, I'd go so far as to let a deserter/dodger stay on my sofa for a few weeks until he/she could find a home. Anyone with sense enough to recognise the Iraq invasion as an illegal and immoral act shouldn't have to go there.

1. They're just being polite.
It's Canada's way of saying "NO MORE FUCKING AMERICANS, THANKS."

2. Harper followers
They're the only ones who ever phone in to radio shows.

Haven't caught on to TV as yet. Pictures along with the sound!

3. Do you think the reason is that its because they signed up for the
military and are not avoiding the draft that has people saying this.

4. There were a few like that...
...saying "they made an agreement", etc. But these callers were asked about having tours involuntarily extended, as has been the case with Regular and National Guard units, and about the questionable "legality" of the invasion, and they held their ground.

5. Your right-wingers are so polite
It's something I've always appreciated from BC radio. I like being treated with respect while my point of view is roasted over a mild fire.
