Tom Manley said he may be “changing vehicles,” but he’s not changing his convictions about the need to address issues like climate change and the plight of family farms and small businesses.

“You don’t change your mind, you change your strategy,” said Manley Friday as he announced his decision to resign as deputy leader of the Green Party of Canada and seek the Liberal nomination in the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry for the next federal election....

...National Green Party officials were quick to react Friday to the news of the loss of their deputy leader. “Not only is the Liberal Party poaching our policy ideas, they’ve now started poaching our candidates,” said Green Party leader Jim Harris in a new release. “I hope that Tom will have an influence within the Liberal Party. Maybe through Tom, Green policies will be brought forward in a government that continues to back away from its commitment to democratic reform, the Kyoto Protocol, a sustainable public health-care system and education. “Tom will take many qualities with him that have made our party grow.”
