Tory official resigns over website posting
Last Updated Sat, 31 Dec 2005 17:42:39 EST
CBC News

The campaign manager for an Edmonton-area MP resigned Friday after suggesting local Conservatives would start working toward Alberta separation if the Liberals win the election.

Gordon Stamp, manager for Tory MP Peter Goldring, posted the comments on a website called Free Dominion.

"Many of us in Alberta are working on our last federal campaign," he wrote, posting under the pseudonym 'Psycho.'

"If the Liberals remain in power, we will be working on Alberta separation after January 23."

1. ahh our own Freeper wannabees
but this happened over new years and he quickly resigned so probably won't become much of an issue. If it had happened today, then maybe a different story. but it is considered buried. That is unless Mr Stamp decides he wants some media attention for his cause. But I think he is tied up in a backroom with no computer privileges for the duration of the campaign.

Now on to Harper's top 5 issues refresher course for the masses who where asleep for the first 1/2 of the campaign.

for those curious

blogs covering the Stamp issue

but the story really broke when Paul Wells picked it up

2. Oh, the delicious irony!
The faux Cons were in a lather about the Lib official that resigned for the crap on his website and were, oh so pious about it. I guess this is now a checkmate, lol.

3. Why resign...?

Hardly controversial -- in fact taking the long view might prove advantageous...

The Tories should have ignored it--it's not like it would cost them votes.

But I presume the Tories don't want to be embrassed while they campaign for votes in Ontario :eyes:

4. LOL, well, it certainly would strengthen the Lib and NDP contention
that the faux Cons are in bed with the separatists which does NOT help their attempt to gain votes elsewhere in Canada. They are all going to be ultra-sensitive about the truth coming out too soon.
