Layton's pitch for a Liberal vote
Barely six weeks ago, New Democratic Party Leader Jack Layton joined the Conservatives and the Bloc Québécois to bring down Prime Minister Paul Martin's minority government, forcing a federal election that many voters did not want at this time.

Then Layton spent the first half of the election race lending credibility to the Conservative campaign by denouncing Martin as unfit to govern, even though Mr. Justice John Gomery had cleared Martin in the federal sponsorship scandal after an exhaustive probe.

Now, just as Stephen Harper's Conservatives are pulling ahead, Layton suddenly is warning that they will wreak havoc on the country if they win.

He has invited Canadians who share his concern to follow Hargrove's lead and vote for the Liberals.

Well gosh golly gee.

You mean I should have been attacking the reform group all along to have the Liberals ahead in the polls so that the NDP votes wouldn't be afraid to vote NDP? Who'd have knowed. Guess I will have to plan for the next election after this one?

2. Because Jack is a left wing moron. Just like the Naderites here...
in America. I hope the Liberals get a majority, though that is NOT likely now.

The left wingnuts here seem to think that it is not who rules the "empire" but how the place is ruled.

6. What the fuck?
If you think corporate tax cuts are more important than housing programs then why the fuck are you posting on a progressive message board?

4. I am thoroughly pissed of at Layton, he didn't need to force an
election at this time, he could have waited until after the final Gomery report is tabled. He callously forced an election at this time, not because he has any hope of winning the election but only to increase his numbers to influence the winner. He has stated he will work with the faux Cons, does that mean he will sell NDP principles cheaply? The reason I ask is that we all KNOW the faux Con agenda is the antithesis of NDP principles so what is there to work with?

I am voting NDP in my riding in hopes of unseating the faux Cons but, sadly and for the first time, I do it with resentment.

5. Hold on a minute...

I didn't read anywhere in the story that Layton was pitching for a Liberal vote. That is conjecture by the writer and kind of weak at that...

This is reactionary bullshit, that is spawning all sorts of anti-progressive discourse.
