4. Why? Why am I living here? |
|
Well, I moved here in 1998. Remember, when the government coffers were overflowing and we had some intelligent people in the Whitehouse? I have to say, I have thought many times about whether to leave and go to Canada or back to England but for various reasons I'm still here.

I'm an engineer. My company arranged for an H1 visa which allowed me to work here for 3 years and then an additional 3 years after it is renewed. In the meantime I applied for permanent resident status or green card which I got after about 4 years in the country.

8. So do I, and I was born here. |

If I marry an Englishman, would I get citizenship eventually? I am working on getting dual citizenship w/ Italy, but it's a total hassle and it might take over a year to actually get it.

11. You'd need to live in the UK for 3 years |
|
and you'd be allowed an average of 3 months a year outside the country (or he'd need to be working for the British government abroad). http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/british_nationality/advice_about_nationality/bn7_-_naturalisation.html?
