OK, let me get this straight ... |
|
After the invasion of Fallujah over a year after the Mission was accomplished, so that the democratic elections which were on stream weren't going to be delayed any more than once, the elections are probably going to be delayed again and the US Cavalry are going to have to go into other Mission Accomplished cities to flush out the bad guys they were definitely going to get rid of in Fallujah but didn't.
No, don't see how anyone could possibly have an issue with that.
Meanwhile. Margaret Hassan is dead and Condosleazy Rice takes over the job of Secretary of State so that she can use her encyclopaedic knowledge of how to lecture Rich Kids about the late Soviet Union to bear on how to Accomplish the Mission.
Sometimes Hate is such an inadequate word ...

Sometimes it helps to say it out loud.

2. Let's play a numbers game |
|
It might be hard, because we're not being told what the numbers really are, but let's just give it a try:
How many people were killed by Saddam Hussein during his years in power?
Now, compare that number, and factor in his years in power, with the number of people killed ever since the United States invaded Iraq, not quite two years ago.
It's been a long time since I took geometry, but I'll wager the geometric progression puts the White House far ahead.
Maybe it's an arithmetic progression. As I said, it's been a long time.
In either case, who's the bigger murderer?

Can anyone quote me the numbers?
Obviously, you have a problem of which deaths to attribute to what: do you count deaths by starvation or disease caused by the sanctions, and if so which side do you blaim them on? What about deaths by those causes after Saddam's removal? What count as comparing like with like?
I've heard the number two million quoted (I think by John Prescott) as the total number of Saddam's kills; if this is accurate then I doubt the US is in a position to match that in kills per day, but it sounds suspectly high to me.
