Mowlam "UK's favourite politician"
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/26092005/344/mowlam-uk-s-favourite-politician.html

Former Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam has been voted the nation's favourite politician of all time.
Mowlam, who died last month, came out ahead of Winston Churchill.
Former Tory leader Margaret Thatcher was third, followed by Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The survey by ITV1's This Morning found that the public chose Mowlam for her honesty and sense of humour.
She received one-fifth of the vote in the YouGov poll of 2,000 people.
Sir Richard Branson is the celebrity people would most like to become an MP, the survey showed.

Tory MP Boris Johnson was voted the sexiest male politician - sexiest female was young Lib-Dem Sarah Teather.
Margaret Beckett and John Prescott were named the politicians most in need of a makeover.

Former Tory leaders topped a list of Britain's most boring politicians - John Major was first, followed by Iain Duncan Smith and William Hague.
DUP leader the Rev Ian Paisley is the politician we would least like to be stuck on a desert island with, ahead of Baroness Thatcher and Mr Blair.

Boris Johnson sexiest male? :wow:

1. There's not a lot of choice for "sexiest politician"
I suppose Boris does have proven legover ability. And with all due respect to Sarah Teather, 'sexy' isn't the first adjective that comes to mind.

I do thoroughly agree with the 'desert island' results, though.

2. Vote for sexy MPs?
Why? Doesn't hurt so bad when they f**k you over?

3. Only one problem with that choice
She's not longer with us. How about the best current politician? The best living UK politician at least, or are they all not worth the bother?

5. Oh, FFS!
Favourite politician of all time? Not that I have anything (much) against Mowlam, but how could she possibly beat (to name just a couple) Nye Bevan or Tony Benn?

I don't find any MPs sexy, but mine (Glenda) is the only one I've seen naked.

8. Anyone see Bremner, Bird and Fortune last night?
The nude Tories calendar? Ugh.

A New Zealand MP almost did it:

9. I don't want to think about that!
I didn't see it (I don't watch TV), but my brain is now polluted: I think it's absolutely imperative that nobody gives Ann Widdecombe this idea. Or, if we include ex-MPs, Edwina Currie (who I could almost imagine doing it). Agh, I feel ill.

10. Ann was the first on the calendar
You don't think BB&F would hold back on the grounds of public mental health, would you? They had a joke to do.

7. She's my favourite recent national politician...
from a major party. But if I had to state my favourite recent politician from any party, I would have to name Mike Woodin, a Green councillor and activist in Oxford, and a great colleague of mine in the university, who died tragically young last year.

Going back, I suppose my favourite politician is Clement Attlee, who made such a difference to the country. There are no doubt others, if you go back a long way. I can't think of anyone outstanding at the moment - I do like my MP Evan Harris, but he's not a national figure.
