Full Daily Show with Jon Stewart coming to the UK!
Excellent - the "adult entertainment channel" (yes, very postmodern, Channel 4 - your marketing ploys are transparent, these days, we knew you didn't mean porn) more4, that Channel 4 has been pushing, will have the whole Daily Show (not just the weekly roundup that is available in some places).

http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/aug05/daily270801.php

And this will be on Freeview - starting Oct 10th. Sorry if this was reported here earlier - I wasn't around when the press releases came out.

1. Congratulations! Welcome to the Club.
Just so their is no mistake, most of The Daily Show IS fake, except for the interview with the Odd or slightly crazy people, Those ARE real.

Those people really are so odd or stupid, that they don't actually know that they are being ridiculed by the reporter.

Do you know if Channel 4 with have Steven Colbert's new show also?

2. I doubt it
Apparently The Daily Show was slightly surprised to get picked up in the full form, so I wouldn't think they'd leap straight in with an unbroadcast show. TDS, however, wins Emmys.

4. Probably right, it is great news about The Daily Show though.
It's a rather odd move for the BBC. It seems we only get your Comedies after they have finished their run in the U.K. and I heard that usually holds true for the U.S. shows in the U.K. as well, right?

5. It's actually an independent channel, not the BBC
Channel 4 did actually have their own version of The Daily Show a few years ago ("The 11 o'clock Show"), which launched a few careers (Ali G, Ricky Gervais), but it was actually fairly crap itself - its topical humour was mainly insults. But the channel also shows a lot of the good American imports (Sopranos, West Wing, and many more), so they seem to think there are enough viewers who will understand the US-oriented news stories and interviews.

Normally, we get US shows a year or two after the American first showing - which means we have to watch out for spoilers, being a series or two behind. I presume we'll get TDS within a day, so that it's still fresh.

The new channel is also terrestrial digital - which they won't be demanding huge viewing figures for.

3. Weekdays @ 8:30!!
I'm so psyched about this -- I've caught the odd clip here and there but the Comedy Central site isn't exactly dial-up friendly.

Also looking forward to ITV4 which will be showing the amazing Larry Sanders show.

6. Excellent! no more internet downloads...
I've thought of sharing them with my Brit colleagues, but not sure how much of it they would appreciate. Many of the references are very specific to American culture & politics.

7. Schedule up for the first 2 weeks
The Daily Show is on at 8:30 and then repeated in the very early hours. The Blunkett comic-drama is on Saturday 15th.

8. Schedule doesn't quite make sense
"Recorded on weekday evenings before a New York audience, the show will be screened the following night in the UK. "

It's recorded from Monday to Thursday in the US, yet more4's schedule for the first week has it shown in Britain from Monday to Thusrday. Shurely shome mishtake?

And the link you gave shows the Blunkett thing on the opening Monday.

9. Hmmm
unless they begin from the previous Thursday. I'm trying to remember what ITV2 used to do with Letterman.

My bad on Blunkett. The site I got the link from was most excited about Curb Your Enthusiasm so I was working back from Sunday.

10. must move back to UK ...
I live in Brussels where I can only get 2 UK channels on cable, namely BBC1 and BBC2.

Most American comedies and dramas (from Friends to Desperate Housewives) are shown in original version on Belgian TV (with Dutch subtitles for the Flemish audience).

I can also get the weekly "global edition" of The Daily Show on CNN international, and the clips online (but my cheap 512KB broadband wont buffer fast enough!)

Now that the full edition of The Daily Show can be seen on Freeview - it almost makes me think about moving back to the UK!

13. I have an answer of sorts
from a chappy who claims to be in the know:

"From Monday 17th, the show will be shown 5 days a week, Monday to Friday at 8:30pm. The Monday show week will feature highlights from the previous week and the Tuesday to Friday shows will be the regular US editions from the previous night."

11. Excellent news 3 days to go
Did you read the Interview with Jon Stewart in the Guardian last Saturday?

I just wish it was 9:30 then I wouldn't have to negotiate with my Wife.

12. Hopefully More4 +1 will be forthcoming
assuming there's room on one of the multiplexes to save your marriage.
