I always get the impression that the one thing she regrets in life is not BEING Tony Blair - she even imitates his gestures, etc.
I used to think that Labour Education Secretaries would all have to be at least much better than their Tory counterparts. How wrong I was...

.. Estelle Morris had the potential to do a good job. I always rated her when she was the NUT's parliamentary consultant pre-97. Always very strong on Equal Opps & Gay Rights.

I've always had a soft spot for her. Probably the best Education Secretary in 25 years, not that the competition has been overwhelming. A decent person, but never given any independence, and not tough enough to demand it.
