Poll: Londoners Believe Iraq War Contributed to Terror Attacks
Seven out of 10 Londoners believe the Iraq war contributed to the July terrorist attacks in the city, and nearly as many want British troops withdrawn from Iraq, according to a poll published Tuesday.

The MORI poll for the Greater London Authority found that 72 percent believed British involvement in the U.S.-led war contributed a "great deal" or a "fair amount" to the July 7 transit attacks, in which four suicide bombers killed 52 people.

Only 8 percent thought the war was not a factor, while 15 percent thought it was "not very much" of a factor. Sixty-two percent said they wanted British troops out of Iraq; 27 percent wanted troops to stay and 11 percent had no opinion.

The poll results were based on 1,002 telephone interviews with London residents on Sept. 22-26. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

1. Well, duh.
Sorry cal04, that's not directed at you, it's directed at anyone who thinks the radical Islamist suicide bombers were unconcerned about Iraq and instead were making a protest against, ooh, I don't know, Post Office queues.

2. Well, as one of the bombers said on the posthumously-shown video ...

... that that was why he did it, I think it might be in order to give it a little credence, even if the Dear Leader remains in denial.

Don't think there's anyone left who thinks that Guy Fawkes was protesting against parking regulations in York.

4. Can anyone confirm this:
It's from the Mirror - and I've not seen it reported in any of the other articles about Straw's speech last week:

"During his speech Mr Straw said people who blame the London bombings on the Iraq war are the modern equivalent of Nazi sympathisers."

6. It wasn't from his speech, but from an interview on Today that day
audio here before he gave the speech. The Mirror reports his words accurately further down in their article - but he wasn't directly saying we're the equivalent of Nazi sympathizers; he was saying the bombers were just as responsible as the Nazis for what they did. So that implies that saying the Iraq war was a major cause of the London bombing is like saying the imposition of impossible war reparations on Germany was a major cause of WW2 - I suppose.

8. Jack Straw is out of his tree...
..btw, I saw a newsclip this AM on BBC World, and there was Jack Straw greeting a member of the Turkish delegation who had come to talk about the EU thingy, and as they shook hands the Turkish fellow went to hug Straw who IMMEDIATELY recoiled to the point that they almost fell over away from each other...it was friggin' hysterical..

5. so much depends on the causus belli
It appears a war crime has been perpetrated, and ripples of iraq are
hitting britain, 1000's of miles away from the epicenter, but only a
few miles away from a primary war criminal's house. Seems the chickens
have come home to roost, and liars dig deeper trenches of denial.
