Clark or Fox will be eliminated in a few minutes
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 12:02 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Whichever one of them stays, gets eliminated on Thursday. I have to say that I want Davis to win, because Cameron looks electable and that really scares me. Davis cannot win a General Election, just my opinion.

I should have added, that bizarrely to me, Davis looks like Jilly Cooper with a broken nose...squint your eyes when you see him next and tell me he doesn't look like Jilly Cooper with a broken nose.

2. Clarke eliminated. Breaking on BBC now.
This is good news. The Tories haven't lost the knack for taking chunks out of their own hide.

5. Do you know what the vote totals were?
Clarke could never win, he likes Europe and the Tories are STILL and will FOREVER be rabid, frothing at the mouth Xenophobic Little Englanders.

7. Thanks, I'm now wondering
A) Who'll get Clarke's votes and B) After Thursday, who'll get Fox's votes.

Fox is more Right-Wing than Cameron, so I think Davis will benefit. Clarke is more Liberal than Davis, so I think Cameron will benefit from his votes.

10. After Fox is eliminated on Thursday
it goes to the whole Tory membership, so it doesn't matter what the MPs think after that. Davis and Cameron seemed to be rabbiting on about getting lots of MPs votes on Thursday to 'send a message of support', but they're really at the mercy of the rabid constituency members.

11. Then it'll obviously come down to
Which one out of Davis and Cameron hate Europe the most. I must stick with my prediction of Davis.

3. Yep. I go to the bottom of the political prediction class
(see the poll on who would win).

9. I stand by my choice of Davis. But I suspect Clarke's supporters will go
for Cameron, so it looks like I'm going to flunk the class as well.

Davis on 62 - but he claimed to have 66 declared for him. That's interesting.

12. I agree
Davis will win and Cameron will get Clarke's votes. And Gordon Brown will win the next election.

13. I ain't saying "I told you so" yet cos the opera ain't over ...
... till the backwoodsmen and blue rinses sing.

I still think that the Tories are about to have a rare fit of sanity and actually elect a potential election winner as leader but there's still time for Bruiser Davis or even Foxy to bring out the worst in them yet.

Interesting ...

14. Unless Cameron gets a walloping mandate.
If 2/3 of the votes or more go to him, the issue doesn't go to the country. Unlikely, but not impossible.

16. Yeah, not impossible, but can't see it. It's going to be a classic ...
.. "fundie" v "realo" battle for the soul (if it can be said to have one)of the Party of the Night.

15. The Tories always remind me of the cartoon character
who lights the fuse to an old fashioned cannon and then insists on looking down the barrel when it appears to have failed to fire. You just know what is going to happen next.

8. Breaking News from 2009!
No one shocked when Gordon Brown wins Labour a 4th historic general election victory.

A Tory spokesman had this to say: We gave the public what the Daily Mail publishers asked for. We lurched even further to the right, blamed the poor, single mothers and immigrants for all societies ills. We can't explain why it all went wrong.

In other news, advanced cloning techniques have allowed the Tory party to grow a shadow cabinet guaranteed to win the next election. They have started with Maggie Thatcher, Enoch Powell and Attila the Hun. It is hoped that these leaders will enable the Tory party to reach out to the working classes and minority voters.
