The Chingford Strangler goes mad in the Sunday Express
Former Tory Cabinet minister Lord Tebbit has sparked controversy by saying that young boys should be taught how to shoot.

Lord Tebbit, a keen game shooter, said that taking boys out on shoots would satisfy their need for a certain amount of excitement and violence, while teaching them discipline and the ability to obey orders.

The Tory peer - who served in Margaret Thatcher's administration as Norman Tebbit - told the Sunday Express newspaper: "Kids should go out on shoots. It gives them a sense of excitement - and kids, particularly young boys, have a need for a degree of violence.

"It is much better than playing a ghastly computer game. To have them struggling through the brambles, seeing people shoot, is much more in the interest of the kids.

"Boys would soon find themselves in a man's world and having to obey instructions."

1. "Did me the world of good - I haven't murdered anyone since I took it up"
I don't know who I blame more - the Tory ex-ministers rapidly approaching senility, or the Express, for giving them the oxygen of publicity. :banghead:

3. Ah! Confirms my theory.
If you look carefully at the Polecat, you'll notice for some time that he's been morphing into Phil the Greek.

Looks as if the process is almost complete.

4. Steve Bell noticed that years ago
As I recall, he published a handy cartoon about how to tell them apart, based on how they pronounce the word "trousers":

Chingford Strangler: trahsis
Phil the Greek: trizers

7. I thought I had it on paper
In my yellowing If... and Maggie's Farm books, but I can't find it. As consolation, here are two Tebbit cartoons from 1983.

Tebbo has long had an unhealthy interest in youth:

He's not what he seems:

5. I wonder if Gerry Adams agrees?
The IRA had plenty of boys who learnt to shoot and take orders. How'd that work out, Norm?
