Our Tory candidate claims that we should vote for her because "I visit your villages quite frequently". I think I might for someone who lives here. Oh and she wants to turn us into a Park and Ride site. Hurrah!

1. The local Lib Dem candidate in my mum's ward lives elsewhere but .... |
|
... "has lots of friends in the village". So that's all right, then.
She presumably has less friends among the Lib Dems in her own ward who de-selected her this time round.
She may have even less friends after the election, having boasted in her literature of having great support from local Tories who thought she was the best bet to beat a "socialist" candidate.
BTW Although the Tories have obviously have had their arms twisted to put up "paper" candidates in all the SE Northumberland wards for the new Unitary, I have yet to see a Tory leaflet. Nonetheless, I fear that the Northumberland "Anti-Socialist" coalition of Tories, Lib Dems and "Independents" (ie conservatives too right-wing for the Tory Party) may well take control, due to the protest against the old Blairite County Council and all its works, particularly in the better-heeled parts of the shire.

2. I've only had leaflets from Labour and independents |
|
The independents around this area are quite good though. It's interesting to note that the local Labour candidates are campaigning on their own personal strengths and actions, rather than the centralised copy & paste mailshots they used last time.

3. To give the devils their due, both Labour and the Lib Dems hereabouts ... |
|
... have always campaigned on local issues.

4. Right at the moment... |

the Tories and LibDems in Oxford seem to have moved from the ever-fascinating topic of what to do with a Load of Old Rubbish, to arguing about the local Covered Market, and whether it is or isn't in dire financial straits and in desperate need of being saved by the Tories.
I don't know whether it's in dire financial straits, but either way, I don't see the Tories as the people to save it!

5. The odd thing for me is... |
|
...that whilst I am getting leaflets from the Tories about their candidate in the general election, I have seen nothing from them about their candidate for the local council, which they happen to run.
Mostly it's the Lib Dems who leaflet me. And as for Labour, I have not had a single leaflet from them since I moved to Colchester. I have however had requests on Facebook to join such groups as "Friends of Colchester Labour Party". If they actually bothered with this area then I might be less inclined to ignore that sort of thing.
