Arrest warrant issued for Sultan of Brunei's brother Prince Jefri

A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of the Sultan of Brunei’s brother after he refused to attend court for a trial which could see him jailed over a £3billion family feud.

Prince Jefri of Brunei, who is thought to have flown to Paris to avoid appearing before the High Court in London, could now be extradited to answer charges that he breached a previous court order requiring him to hand over billions of pounds in cash and assets.

Mr Justice Peter Smith also said he intended to remand the Prince in custody as and when he is brought back to the UK.

His ruling is the latest twist in a 10-year legal battle between Prince Jefri, 53, and the Brunei Investment Agency, which is controlled by the Sultan, one of the 10 richest men in the world.
