MPs call for pub happy hours ban
Pub happy hours should be banned and supermarkets stopped from selling alcohol at a loss in order to combat drink-fuelled disorder, MPs have said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7718950.stm MPs currently enjoy the biggest and most unprecedented access to taxpayer-funded subsidised round the clock drinking facilities in the UK. Each time your MP downs, say, a double scotch you are effectively paying him up to 75% of its cost to drink on your behalf. Hardly the right interest group to whinge about the proles' dinking habits.  |
