1. Friend just checked in from London saying
they were evacuating 3 tubes. I had to do a double take because I thought it was an old message from a couple of weeks ago. She said she'd post as soon as she heard something else. They've locked down her building.

2. WGN radio in Chicago is reporting
that something has happened on buses also, and that smoke is coming from one tube station.

Scotland Yard reports that they presently do not believe it is a terror attack.

8am newscast.

Hope this helps.

4. The PATRIOT ACT is up for vote, today.
Perhaps "they" wanted to encourage congress to slide it on through (same effect the anthrax had to get it passed the first time).

3. There are police cars heading off in all directions here
In Westminster. Look out for saturation coverage again. It is the coverage that keeps it coming. Clever way of keeping the scare going.

5. BBC Expert says they seem to be "swarming" attacks a la Baghdad.
As the Chimp said, better to have it happening OVER THERE than in the good ol' US of.

The Skin

6. Hope the PM thinks twice before telling us again to carry on as normal
I think that Blair would be unwise to try to repeat his call of yesterday, telling people to respond to the bombings and near-bombings,

"by keeping to our normal lives and doing what we want to do because to do otherwise is in a sense to give them the very thing they are looking for"

After all, neither he nor his family are travelling on the buses and tubes.
