6. Money back? Sorry squire, couldn't do that,
it'd cause havoc in my accounting system. Look, Arthur Daley never leaves a customer in the lurch, I'll tell you what, I'll get Terry to pick you up and drop you off in Iceland. That's on your way home, isn't it? In the meantime, why don't you read the small print in the guarantee?

9. Well, the Attorney General managed to come up with a legal
justification for invading Iraq, so he's inventive, at least. But then that never actually got tested in a court of law.

10. He's also currently trying to make the House of Lords
agree that you can lock people up indefinitely without trial...

Anyway... did the Canadians actually expect something made in this country to be of any use? ;-)

11. He's simultaneously
in the High Court prosecuting an Afghan warlord for - wait for it - torture.

"However, there are some crimes which are so heinous, such an affront to justice, that they can be tried in any country."

On the other hand, he doesn't mind using evidence produced by a spot of torture to keep men in prison indefinitely without charge or trial. He also doesn't mind shaking the hands of Americans who have ordered and enabled torture.

It obviously all depends on who does the torture and who benefits.

Lord Goldsmith - the man with the flexible conscience.
