The nauseating crap you can stumble across on the internet....
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 04:28 PM by Kicked in the Taco

I literally felt a little sick when I first saw this (sorry if your currently experiencing a similar sensation), although in fainess I should say that i think this was intended as ironic, prompted by John Reid's truly nauseating remarks a couple of years ago about new labour being the heirs to the Bevanite legacy. :puke::puke::puke:
Like any of this bunch are even fit to mention themselves in the same breath as Nye! I hope Peter Hain feels ashamed every time he looks at that bust in his office.

1. What about this...

"Help! Mom! There are Liberals Under My Bed"

Book Description via Amazon
This full-color illustrated book is a fun way for parents to teach young children the valuable lessons of conservatism. Written in simple text, readers can follow along with Tommy and Lou as they open a lemonade stand to earn money for a swing set. But when liberals start demanding thatHelp_mommy_liberals_ Tommy and Lou pay half their money in taxes, take down their picture of Jesus, and serve broccoli with every glass of lemonade, the young brothers experience the downside to living in Liberaland.

Is nothing sacred to these bottom-feeding paranoids?

4. OMG!!!
I was sure it must be a spoof (on the lines of those spoof lists of children's books with titles like "You're Different and That's Bad" and "Mr. Fork, Meet Ms. Electric Outlet"). But it looks as though it's serious - what's really scary is that a couple of people on Amazon actually reviewed in favourably!

3. Yuck, I was so disturbed

by the possibility it wasn't ironic I had to check! You're right, it was in response to comments by John Reid. The relevant Guardian pages aren't loading for some reason and I can't see that poster in cached copies, but here's the search results, might work later.

5. one of the pages your search brought up featured the original poster--

Seems it was Hugh Gaitskell and Barbara Castle who suffered the misfortune of having the first couple's features superimposed over them, which would have made it doubly disturbing if it had been meant seriously. Although, as a work of irony I suppose it's clever in that it really only puts into pictorial form what Reid was indeed saying- illustrating just how shameful and tasteless it is for new labour to attempt to co-opt the great man's legacy.

6. This is, presumably, some sort of joke?
Tony isn't fit to do Nye's photocopying. Was this meant seriously? Are the hardcore Blairites that deluded?

7. Mercifully, I think it was meant as a joke
The sad thing is it is possible to imagine some shameless Blairite stooge actually putting out something like this.
