Confirmed: K9 returns to 'Doctor Who'
Confirmed: K9 returns to 'Doctor Who'
Thursday, August 25 2005, 07:52 BST -- by Neil Wilkes

K9 will be back for the next series of Doctor Who, the BBC confirmed today.

The Doctor's robotic companion, remembered for his time with Tom Baker, was last seen in 1983's anniversary special The Five Doctors.

John Leeson, voice of K9, said: "I am delighted to have been invited back on board the series - and a little gathered rust is no object to a fully functional K9!"

"It is great to be welcoming K9 back to Doctor Who," added producer Phil Collinson. "A whole generation fondly remember him as an ever-faithful companion and best friend to Tom Baker's Doctor. I hope the new generation of viewers will fall in love with him in the same way. I'm sure he's going to prove an invaluable help to the Doctor in the fight against intergalactic evil."

Loved Tom Baker, Peter Davidson was ok too.

Didn't know they were making new Dr. Who's at all!!! Wow, do they even air in the US? I don't think I have seen any on the BBC channels I have.

2. A new series has already been shown in the UK and Canada

A second new series is currently in production. The US Sci-fi channel apparently turned down the offer of showing new Doctor Who series.

EDIT: Here is the BBC Doctor Who website http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/

5. SCIFI channel.

I heard indirectly that the reason they gave for never having shown earlier Dr. Who episodes on SCIFI was that they felt the show "didn't meet production standards."

Good to know a classic with a large and loyal fanbase doesn't stand shoulder to shoulder with such mammoth acheivements as "Mansquito", "Snakehead Terror", "Blood Suckers", and about 38 or so "sci-fi originals" about giant snakes.

Gah. If it weren't for BSG I'd say round them all up and put them on a spaceship with the hairdressers and telephone earpeice repairmen and ship them on out of the solar system.

7. For real, so sick of the "sci-fi" originals
Pretty much $@^#$ cookie cutter B-movies hardly worth the time seeing the promo during every break of Stargate SG-1.

8. I Bet the real reason
was because of the political comment inherent in the series.
