CONCORD, N.H. - President Bush (news - web sites)'s former New England campaign chairman was indicted Wednesday on charges he took part in the jamming of the Democrats' get-out-the-vote phone lines on Election Day 2002.

James Tobin, 44, stepped down Oct. 15 — two weeks before Election Day — after the Democrats accused him of involvement....

1. It's apparently used a lot

I read an account by a repentant college Repub who worked polls on E Day and he said that another Repub poll worker was standing there with a smirk on his face and the guy asked him what was so funny. The other guy replied that "we jammed their phone lines so they can't call out for help to fix the problems". The guy who wrote this story (over at the Democracy for America forum) said he went to other polling places and said he saw first hand the same kind of crap going on all over the place, with very long lines for Democratic precincts. He said that he was very, very sorry and I told him to report his story to www.votersunite.org. I don't know if he ever did.
