I just received this email from MoveOnPac
Why don't they get the millions left over specifically for contesting the elections at the rate they are going we will all have no money with all the recounts that We the People have to pay out of our pockets yet I feel we already did pay at the Tax chop off our income checks!!!

Dear MoveOn member,
Out of the 2.8 million votes cast for Governor of Washington State, the final margin was razor-thin. Dino Rossi, a conservative former state Senator, was ahead by only 261 votes. Then a recount brought the margin down to 42 votes. Now, Christine Gregoire, the Democratic candidate, is calling for a hand recount – which could easily make her the victor, since recounts typically favor the candidate who is behind.

The catch: a recount costs at least $750,000, and Gregoire needs to raise that money by tonight to pay for it. Can you help? We are 42 votes from an important progressive victory. To support the Washington recount, click here:

and now we also here about a Alaska recount!

Sorry just got home from midnight shift and dead beat just pissed that we have to see so many politicians or rather their followers or even their opponents going around panhandling to raise funds to verify that we have real FAIR and Free elections!!! S#$ @& ^ %$#ch

1. I always am left to wonder
Why do recounts cost so much damn money, and how is it that "the right outcome" is left to expensive recounts and fund-raising efforts that might fail. Is this NOT a problem with the system right HERE glaring at us???

2. good question
WHY do recounts -- which are our RIGHT, are they not? -- cost so much???? And as a by the way, I did hear the Kerry campaign has kicked in $200,000 to WA state's recount effort. Sorry, no link at the moment.
