Distribution of Cuyahoga provisional ballots -- map
Now that the official results have been released by the Cuyahoga County, Ohio BOE, they can be compared to the unofficial results released Nov. 3, to see how much the vote total in each precinct grew (almost all due to provisional ballots).

Here is a map of all the precincts where the number of provisional ballots exceeded 5% of the total. Note that these people were made to fill out a provisional ballot even though they were indeed registered to vote in that precinct (otherwise the vote would not have been ultimately accepted). The 8,000 or so rejected provisional ballots are below the radar of this map.

Note that in addition to the Cleveland area, mostly in the black precincts, also Lakewood voters (white liberals) got hammered with provisional ballots.

Joe

4. Great Stuff
Instead of race, do you have population density or proportion of multi-unit housing as an underlay? These kinds of measures would also tend to show that provisionals are more than a matter of race -- which is, I think an important point to begin making. Census has so many great variables in the TIGR set that you could begin proving discrimination on basis of other prohibited characteristics -- religion, income, national origin, age, gender, etc. -- the more we have the more we might catch someone's attention.

My question here is: why look at provisionals -- they represent votes that did get made. Why not work those great charts you did before on the undervotes -- meaning the ones that didn't get counted?:yourock:

9. Great map
Couple questions--

What software are you using, and where are you getting your data?

I'd be great if we could take all the factors used to suppress and come up with a some sort of composite.

10. Could this be interpreted as an effect of population dist.?
Perhaps orange or red or soemthing for precincts that were not hit hard with provisionals to determine a ratio?
