Kerry Campaign Keeping Eye on Ohio Cases

By JOHN McCARTHY, Associated Press Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio - John Kerry (news - web sites)'s campaign has joined a lawsuit by third-party presidential candidates seeking a recount in Ohio. A lawyer for the campaign said Thursday the campaign does not question the Democrat's loss but wants any counting to take place statewide.

cant tell you how many times i see a local story i know well,

and see it reported on Natl news, with some details all wrong! I mean WRONG.

Kerry wouldnt be joining in unless he saw a win as possible. would be a waste of time if no win.

there will be naysayers who don't get it.

Framing. Spin. Beating them at their own game. That's what it's about. Not Gore-ing himself.

This keeps it under the radar. It doesn't matter what the lawyer said if it turns out Kerry won. But we're trying to fly under the Republican radar right now.

45. I couldn't agree more
The RNC is beginning to get a little shaky about events in Ohio. They are starting to run delaying tactics, like in Delaware County. Karl Rove is always one step ahead throwing sleaze behind him. He may be slipping on his own sleaze in the not too distant future.

47. How's the weather in Texas?
Thank you for your postive comments about my article. I so appreciate it. I lived in Houston for four months once. Texans were great. They smiled at me all the time. I am not used to strangers smiling at me because they don't do that in NYC where I am from.

I heard the diebold votescam machines were all the rage down there in Texas. A friend said she voted for Kerry, and naturally the votescam machines posted her vote for Bush. How quaint!! How KarlRovesque. Rove wanted Dubya to get a good percentage of Kerry's votes to artifically prop up Dubya's popular vote cushion. PIG!!! I hear Karl Rove single-handely ruined the democratic party in Texas, and now he's got the same ideas for the national democratic party. I don't think he will succeed. He is making too many enemies. His chickens will soon come home to roost and they will covered with his sleaze.

42. Karl Rove's slime/Triumph the Insult dog
Did you guys see the "Triumph the Insult dog" when he was talking to all the spinmeisters? Karl Rove walks by and he says, "Karl Rove! George Bush's brain -- I was expecting a much smaller man!"

He then looks at the camera and says, "I'm a dead man."

That killed me. Rove is slimy and I hope karma comes back around on him. No one deserves it more.

78. Triumph's triumph
That footage of Truiumph the Insult dog in the spin room after the debate was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. What a pisser!!! I loved that insult he lobbed at Rove. It was great. If the Ohio recount doesn't sink Rove, the CIA will. He made a serious error in judgement by pissing off the spies. Spys don't take stuff like that lying down. They know how to find all the skeletons in peoples closets. That's their biz. I can hardly wait to see how it all goes down. I do not think Bush is gonna do four more years. He's made too many enemies, and one of them is bound to trip him up. Bush is used to falling on his face anyway, so it'll hardly phase him. The only difference will be he won't be able to deny it.

29. I really liked your article, kalidas!
Interesting...a lot of us have been thinking that Kerry was just biding his time...never thought of the "retreat" aspect. Loved this quote:

Stillness under the light of day forms the condition for Retreat. An enlightened person, therefore, keeps his distance from mean spirited persons. He avoids exhibiting anger and maintains his dignity…you must prepare to Retreat from a rising darkness that works at cross purpose to your aims…To Retreat at the proper moment is the best course of action. Choose this moment wisely. If you Retreat too soon, you will not have time to properly prepare your return: if you wait too long, you may be trapped. Your retreat should be confident and powerful. You are not abandoning the situation, but, instead, making a wise and timely withdrawal. Until the time is right for a countermove, only small things may be accomplished successfully. Modest but firm arrangements should be made both to aid in your return and to prevent any adversaries from advancing in your absence. You cannot win the war right now, but you can stop the enemies advance. Indeed, Retreat, and concern yourself with small internal reinforcements.

Thank you!

And, welcome!
:hi:

53. Nothing like laying low for awhile
We all saw what happened to Gore. Unfortunatly, the democratics didn't know what they were up against with that sleazeball Rove back in '00. He is a piece of work, let me tell you. His forte' is winning elections even when he doesn't win them, if you get my drift. There needs to be national oversight of the federal elections, not Republican oversight like there is now. Who knows how many red states are being rigged. Rigging elections has become a republican art form.

I don't think JK even really knew what he was up against when he was dealing with that dickweed Karl Rove, but he found out pretty quick after that Swift Boat Veterans for (Un)truth thing. You better believe that was a rude wake up call for him. Thankfully he has got one of the best trial lawyers in the country by his side to help him nail Rove's ass to the wall. His problem is there are still lots of dum mainstream democratics (a couple that I even work with) that still believe Bush won this election fairly. THey are truly living in la la land. For this reason, Kerry has to tread softly, and work quietly. And when he presents the evidence, it has to be ironclad. And I think it will be because he's got Edwards on the case. North Carolina was a rig job par excellence. Erskine Bowles and Kerry/Edwards probably both won there. But Karl Rove's influence seems to have no bounds. Republicans have no balls.

35. I like this best...
"You are not abandoning the situation, but, instead, making a wise and timely withdrawal. Until the time is right for a countermove, only small things may be accomplished successfully."

See, though, I was always worried that we were f'n up a greater plan. I even posted a diary at Kos asking if we weren't doing more harm than good in calling attention to Kerry while he was working his mojo.

I have always maintained that we are stuck between two possibilites:

1) There is a grand plan at work.
2) There is no grand plan at work.

If it's #1, we're gonna be the last to know.
If it's #2, we're pissed! And, Why the hell wasn't there a grand plan, anyway?

I've always been partial to #1 myself though...I knew he'd turn that damned boat!

43. Worried about Rove
I'm worried about Karl Rove. He is getting sleezy as usual trying to delay the recount of presidential votes in Delaware County, Ohio outside Columbus. See article on this link;

http://www.votecobb.org/

Kerry/Edwards have their lawyers right on it, but Rove will continue running his delaying tactics as long as he can because he knows that it will be curtins for Dubya if there's a solid recount of the Ohio vote before the electors meet Dec 13th.

Look Patsy, don't worry. Karl Rove knew this from the get go about JK. Of course he knows Kerry is smart and planning for this, especially with Edwards on the ticket. I wrote my article to assure people like us that the game wasn't over, and as Yogi Bera would say "it ain't over till it's over." And believe you/me, we are NOT letting Rove in on anything he didn't already know. He is an evil political genius and he's already twenty steps ahead of us, leaving lots of sleeze in his wake.

Rovian psyops and Machiavellian manuevers are no suprise to JK either. There is NO WAY that Mr. BCCI/Iran-Contra doesn't know what's up either.

I am always lead back to that "accidentally caught on tape" moment of JK's where he told that campaign worker that they were the biggest bunch of liars and crooks. OK, that's when I sat up and thought, "Reallly? You said that. You know that too?" I live for the plan. The suspense is killing me.

Use your time to ask whatever God you pray to for help unseating Dubya. Ask from the deepest hub of your heart for the sake of the world. And while you're at it, pray for JK/JE to get whatever divine intervention they need to make this happen. I say Dubya's done, he just doesn't know it yet.

60. CIA will cook Rove's goose
Most people don't have a mind as evil as Rove, and it takes time to study his moves to figure out how to respond to such a dangerous force while keeping your hands clean and your tracks covered. Rove has single-handedly destroyed the democratic party in Texas with the help of the Bush family's money and influence. The Bush Family makes the Soprano's look like the Cleavers. Kerry/Edwards will bring down Rove. Rove has made the fatal error of thinking he can purge the CIA and re-make it in his own image. I don't think so, buddy. This isn't Austin, it's Washington, DC. The spys are pissed! And they know where all the skeletons are in the Bush's closet. Just wait and see what they'll do to Rove and his poodle Dubya. It'll be the best reality TV you'll ever see.

I don't want to sound like a ponnyanna, but I believe we're in the calm before the storm. Kerry knows what he's doing! To contest the election now would only bring on the wrath of the GOP and the US corporate media. He would be smeared daily.

58. LET THEM FEEL OUR PAIN IN THEIR POCKETBOOKS!!!
see the article I wrote concerning the matter of Kerry's post election strategy a week and a half ago.
It's here:

http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_politics&Number=293122182&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=21&part=

Let's BOYCOTT FLORIDA CITRUS PRODUCTS to show Jeb Bush who is boss. I saw a Florida State TV commercial running today begging us to buy their citrus products because they had 3 hurricaines. Why should we when they won't even cooperate with Bev Harris's vote audit investigation? F*CK them! Let's boycott their citrus products until they clean up their voterscam operation down there. Let them FEEL OUR PAIN IN THEIR POCKETBOOKS!!!

26. Fraud 2000,2002,2004....WTF
Looks like Kerry was the Skull and Bonesman assigned to keeping Bush in office.

After the exit poll irregularities and illegal disenfrachizement and fraud in the 2000 and 2002 elections, frank and progressive democrats such as Jesse Jackson, Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich realized that stopping the fraud was an absolutely fundamental issue which needs to be taken care of if the Democratic Party is to survive at all. KERRY NEVER WAS ONE OF THESE SHREWD AND HONEST DEMOCRATS. People who tried to bring up issues related to voting machines found that Kerry didn't get it, probably because he just didn't want to get it!

After this betrayel, there's no way in hell he's gonna get the 2008 nomination! Heck, the state of Massachussets should throw him out of his Senate job and put in a REAL democrat instead!

31. Skull and Bones conspiracy?
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 09:20 PM by Mirwib
If Kerry was supposed to keep Bush in the Whitehouse, there were a lot easier ways to do it. For example, Kerry could have purposely lost the debates. Admittedly his campaign was a bit crazy (that whole "reporting for duty" scene from the convention in retrospect looks a bit campy).

Rather than saying that Kerry was part of a conspiracy to keep Bush in the office, I think a better--and more likely response--is that Kerry was not the most effective national candidate that the Democratic Party had available (actually, getting to within 3 million votes of a sitting president in a time of war isn't that bad). It is usually better to describe other people's shortfalls to stupidity rather than malice.

For some reason, the main stream media got scared of Howard Dean. That speech in which the media said he imploded was a very good speech. Dean had momentum until the media kept playing and playing bits and pieces of that speech without the proper context. It is one of those examples of "media group-think." They effectively killed the momentum in Dean's candidacy. With the compressed schedule, there was no chance for Dean to rebuild his momentum.

If Kerry was the Bonesman to throw the election, he would not have won the election. However, Kerry did win.

Now Bush is trying to cheat another Bonesman out of what is rightfully his.

91. Dubya for dogcatcher
The people didn't vote Dubya in, Karl Rove rigged him in. Bush didn't beat nobody. The votescam machines nationwide were rigged to default a Kerry vote to Bush. Plenty of people have reported the problem and God knows how many didn't even notice it. Nice popular cushion for Dubya's ass, isn't it? His karmic chickens will soon come home to roost.

49. Kerry went to VIETNAM. His allegiance to Skull and Bones or whatever
the f**k it is you are suggesting, ended when his whole world was rocked in that war. He came back forever changed from his experience there. He is an honorable man with honorable intentions for the country he loves. He didn't betray anybody. You will never convince me otherwise.

Honestly, this sliming of Kerry on DU is so upsetting and so pervasive it's really getting to me. It's like the line from jaws for crap sake 'just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water,' there's the sharks again!!! I just don't know if I can stand it anymore. You guys have got to be freepaholics, you are just too cynical and hate filled in your assessment of John Kerry.

Why don't you go search the site for the pictures posted today of Kerry attending another dead serviceman's funeral in Massachusetts. They broke my heart, not only because another young man has had to die for this lie of a war but because the man there honoring him and comforting his family should be our President. Has His Fraudulency the Chimp * ever once attended a soldiers funeral??????? I'd call that the betrayal, not John Kerry's behavior. I'd just like to find one thread here somewhere without Kerry-haters. Isn't there another place on the internets for you people to go?:nuke:

He is a grey man in a black and white country. He chooses the course of wisdom, thought and balance which is labeled as a weakness and used against him to manipulate the part of the population that swallows whatever it is fed.

This world would be a better place with more Grey people in leadership roles.

79. I know it's very hard to figure out what's happening.
I wrote K a long letter though, and the next day he publicly had his lawyers join the Ohio recount. Coinkidinky, I think not!! (just kidding but I think lots of letters have helped). The mass mailed letter and video we recieved from Kerry, although mysterious, was worded in such a way, that I came away with a lot of hope. The second letter I just recieved did nothing to disspell that feeling. Perhaps he is a bit too busy at the moment, to send us individual letters of encouragement. I do think something is going on and until I'm proved otherwise I'm believing. In any case, whether as Prez or not, I think K is going to go after * (and election fraud and myriad other * criminal activities) with both barrels blazing. He's just not showing us all his cards yet. The man's a prosecutor who initiated bringing down BCCI and Iran-Contra for f**k's sake, he's no wimp by any stretch of the imagination.

donated to the Kerry Edwards campaign. I got them via email and snail mail. They were mentioned in threads on DU around the time they first were recieved. Many people just dismiss them as form letters, but there are phrases that seem to indicate the fight is just beginning. I could be delusional, but I prefer to think of myself as optimistic.

70. The voice of common sense
I do not expect to be kept informed of every step. I have placed my trust in John Kerry, and I intend to support him. I personally believe that he is working with all of the major groups investigating the election. He made a promise to fight for us and that is exactly what he is doing. The events that have transpired this past week from the timing of Jesse Jackson's rally to the Congressional investigations suggest a carefully coordinated attack.

Things will never move quickly enough for many people on this board. They are quick to jump on the bandwagon and just as quick to jump off. We have real allies in this fight. They include the GLIBS, Keith Olberman, MoveOn, Michael Moore, The Kerry Edwards Team, some Congressional Democrats and the small organizations that are doing the research and footwork to advance this cause.

The enemy is strong and united. To defeat that enemy, we must also unite. John Kerry may not have been the first choice for many. Many do not agree with his tactics. John Kerry has outclassed the repukes and has beaten them at their own game. KKKarl Rove was so smart to lay out the Fallujah trap for an unsuspecting democratic challenge. Kerry was smarter to retreat and regroup.

Now, look at what we have to work with. The Glibs, a small group that received all of its funding from small individual donations launching a recount in three states. A group of Congressional Democrats and the GAO seriously investigating the "fraud" in Ohio. A Kerry Edwards team quietly supporting those efforts with funding and manpower. Jesse Jackson leading a brand new battle for voter rights in this country.

Reform is in the air, and someone is going to take a fall for the crimes that were committed in this past election. I john Kerry leading this charge? I do not know. Does he support what we are doing? Absolutely. If you have any doubts, go back and listen to his video message again carefully. www.johnkerry.com.

Indeed our efforts count more than ever. It will be the collective power of the people that will ensure that justice is served in the end. We must not give up this fight, and we really need to have just a little bit of faith in the things that we can not see.

Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 08:59 AM by righteous1
in a major sort of way. Politically he has much more to lose by alienating a large group of the American electorate not to mention Ohio voters who he will need in 2008 then he does to gain by entering the fray. The people really concerned are a tiny minority, motiviated and vocal, but tiny. He must show a small involvement to keep us, his most devoted base, from turning on him. We are a small group but still crucial, we carry his water are deeply involved in GOTV etc etc, and he can't afford to pi$$ us off. But expect no significant action from JK or his people; A high % of the general American electorate hate a sore loser and JK will not put himself in a position to be called one.

If Kerry doesn't expose this votescam operation in the aftermath of this election, he is milk toast. He needs to do it smart and soon (within two to three months). The evidence needs to be rock solid and they have to have Bev Harris looking all middle America by their side when the story breaks. He must do something courageous and soon if he wants to keep his political hopes alive. I have always liked JK, but I don't know if he is up to the challenge

96.  I think you probably have his position nailed , righteous one. That being
said, I hope you are dead wrong. The people concerned are NOT a tiny minority. That is how the Party perceives them and they are wrong. These people are NOT going to carry water for anyone in 2006 if they don't see action. I promise you the Democratic Party will NEVER again see the kind of individual donor base contributions again if they don't do something about vote fraud. I am a District Chair, and nearly every precinct committee person in my district is pissed. We also had some angry Kerry volunteers come to a district meeting and refuse to be appointed as PC's because they don't know how affiliated they want to be with the Party. A Party official smugly informed me that their anger will burn out and they will come back as they "have no choice".

I think they do have a choice and I am interested in the Party retaining these people. I am going to go into a meeting with some local DNC people and present the case for reaching out to our base as opposed to those people that didn't vote for us to begin with as from your post above they are still doing.

In the meantime, I hope that Kerry really turns the boat around and that we can convince the Party not to throw us overboard!
