the scheming with the machines in Nevada will soon be brought to
another state like yours or near you. I am warning you now, you'd better be watching cuz Heller just blocked public information from the two groups wanting to do a recount here, not allowing them to say they wanted to recount machines in every county but Heller told them they had to provide him with the numbers on the machines in every county they wanted. Of course he didn't want them to make public that a recount was going to be impossible on the 2,000 machines in Vegas that have been used in local, state and national elections for over ten years cuz there aren't capable of a recount and don't produce a paper trail. Me thinks that old Harry Reid has known this for ten years too....

"Heller traveled to Washington on Wednesday to discuss the state's effort with Nevada lawmakers, including the possibility of providing them with voting machines to show to colleagues, according to spokesman Steve George.

Sens. John Ensign, R-Nev., and Harry Reid, D-Nev., are promoting an Ensign bill that would require all states to follow Nevada's lead and allow voters to review ballot printouts in time for the 2006 elections. "

1. paper printouts are a placebo only
if the machines can be either pre programmed or hacked into to change the internally tabulated vote totals. I would not trust the black boxes even with that useless piece of toilet paper firmly grasped in my hand as I leave the voting booth. I would rather trust punch card ballots combined with an in-booth scanner that you can use to check for mistakes such as under votes, over votes, and hanging chads. Then we would only have to worry about the honesty of our election officials - who in all too many states are appointed by the state or local governments and not elected by the people. My state of Florida made the election officials an appointed position some years ago and look what that did to us in the last two elections.

2. I would rather vote with punch ballots too but it's like the Repubs have
Dems beat in election takeover strategy. They've planned this stuff since Clinton was in office ....
