The Tide Has Turned: MSM Helping Madsen and Conyers !!!
This is a critical clue, from a separate thread, in which "jamboi" (who has been a terrific liason between Madsen and DU) reports:

"Madsen has given his info to Conyers! and the MSM is helping him w/
the story"

The famous "tipping point" may have been reached: the MSM are not traitors like the Bushitler dynasty - they do have a proud tradition of investigative reporting, but have been shell-shocked like many by Bushitler Shock and Awe "pscho ops" against Americans since 9/11, and the ruthless Reich-wing Gestapo tactics against the free media.

However, once the Madsen story starts to have legs, and to generate an octopus-like series of corroborating investigations, the MSM may sense that we now have "critical mass", and instead of just wounding the bear and making it more dangerous, we have an opportunity (mixing metaphors) to rid the American body politic of the an extremely virulent strain of flesh-eating virus, once and for all.

1. The "MSM" is run by the " Bushitler" dynasty. They do not have a "proud"
tradition of investigative reporting. It has a tradition of some "mavericks who bucked the system" to get stories out, but in the last decades "investigative reporting" passes for taking stories off the News Wires or being a "stovepipe" for various Right Wing Think Tanks or the Administration ...if it's a Repug one. Sheesh........

4. Agree MSM performance has been mixed...
The MSM did expose the Watergate scandal, and at least reported the basic story of Iran-Contra.

I think the control of the MSM is at the top corporate levels, not the reporters and investigators, who I hope will now take the risk of getting in front of this story.

I think the coming week is critical, and will answer this question. If they don't move now, all may be lost.

Madsen wrote last week:
"...The check will be part of the article when posted. Major media is also helping with this story on the quiet side.

3. I will not hold my breaht
the only raeson the MSM is even touching this is... we are out there in the streets educating people

I am not kiding you... it has NOTHING to do with their so called proud traditions.

Watergate was two cub reporters bucking the system, not reporters doing their job... muckracking is dead and has been dead for a long time

But you see it is hard to ignore the elephant when they KNOW we know.

24. Watergate wasn't just two cub reporters - it was Bradlee and two 'cubs'
The same is not true with GE and Olberman.

Tread carefully in trusting GE and the NBCs.

People act and speak as if Olberman has his own network.

There are many people in the heirarchy between Olberman and GE policy making for the White House.

In one prolonged tactic they could build a following and in one short paragraph - they can dismiss and destroy all after they have enough people following it and watching the commercials. No matter how sincere or dogged Olberman is - he does not own himself. He collects a paycheck. Don't get sucked in to the 'romance' of the cubs.

The NBCs have been on a right wing mission for over 10 years - did they just find religion? I say no way.

15. Dang!
I thought that was my Father's own joke. He is certainly witty enough to have thought of it! He always gives it a spin, each year, at our Minnesota State Fair as we first approach the Horticulture Bldg.

Boy, am I off-topic!:silly:

10. what new is there?
I would say that he really does *need* some help. Ok, the check turned out to be nothing, so what does he have? This Clint guy, that may or may not be on the level, and his story is from years ago, not this year, and he really could be a disgruntled employee. And hasn't this been vetted before? I am trying to figure out what the connection is to Five Star if the check was for something different. This is not adding up at this point, much as I might wish. So far the story seems like a lot of wishful thinking, and jumbled. I can see why people tried to talk him out of posting all this until he had more proof. An affadavit is fine, but there needs to be a lot of corroborating evidence. If the check is nothing, then what does Japanese gold have to do with it? The Lemme suicide could be something or not. Has anyone spoken to the widow, or other friends? Madsen apparently has some strange sources, what with the check having to do with some sort of fraud from Nigeria. I mean, I am usually drawn to conspiracy theories. I am very skeptical.

11. Madsen and Conyers aren't the same
despite the attempts by Madsen's supporters to attach themselves to people with credibility, like Conyers, and even Keith Olbermann.

Conyers, credible.
Madsen, not credible.

Let's keep it straight.

18. Let's Wait and See...
I'll concede Madsen has a mixed record; I consider him a "wild-catter" who is looking for a "gusher", but can turn up dry wells as well. I'm sure you will be happy to be mistaken in this particular case.

I place a lot of hope in what "jamboi" cited in another thread today:

25. no waiting needed
it's safe RIGHT NOW to say Madsen is full of it.

How "happy" I would be -- and does it really make sense to be "happy" about this massive conspiracy? -- this story isn't true and it never will be.

Looks like they are just announcing new leadership. I got pretty psyched, though, considering they were the only congressfolks who raised a stink about the 2000 election.

14. I know this is getting off the topic, but how/when was NPR "assimilated"
... into the MSM? I.E., how and when did NPR get so stupid?

Back in the 90's, NPR was my primary source of daily news, but in 2001, as they slavishly repeated every lie from Bush & Co.'s mouths, they lost all credibility and I stopped listening. The ONLY thing I listen to on the radio now is music - maybe if I got Air America I would listen again. For now, I get news from the internet only, probably like most DUers.

19. Zeroed out.
I am a truck driver and _used_ to listen to NPR all day.
Then came Newt Gingrich. Once he threatened to "zero out" NPR the change began. It moved swiftly and felt like someone turning a knob from "objective" to "mouthpiece". Suddenly my truck was filled with a non-stop stream of Heritage Foundation and Am. Enterprise talking point memo readers. Liberal re-buttals? The wonkish, obtuse and distant Brookings Institute - and only occasionally.

They saved their bacon alright - but at what cost to us all?

20. the myth of the "liberal media"
NPR was attacked by the right, and when Bush came in, they threatened them with taking away all their funding, if they didn't put on "more balanced" programming. They had to have conservative voices on.

Basically, they were forced. And then, there is that myth of the liberal media, and the "liberal media's" mindset, that, gee, I guess we do need to be fair....

And they did it.
