What we can do now in urban areas to help spread the message
by spending $10 at Kinkos and $11 at Staples and doing the following.

Guerilla marketing uses unconventional means of distributing a message.

Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message's exposure and influence. Viral marketing often comes about because of "buzz".

Before the election I was using guerilla marketing in my GOTV street canvassing with flyers. I hung them and I used them as a conversation starter. Some DUers did join me in using flyers but it was not nearly enough to create media buzz. People of course were phone banking, canvassing and writing LTTES, all of which were very important before the election. Now that we have time on our hands and an army of hopefully willing participants, IMHO a brilliant way to take the next step and get the word out to those who do not frequent lefty web sites is:

Use poor man's advertising and free delivery systems, ie. DUers to spread the immediate message, that the election was fraudulent.

Right NOW we at DU CAN just like the mean girls in highschool start a whisper campaign against the chimp's reputation. Do this:

download the file below and go to Kinkos and make copies.

BUSH CHEATED is color but can be printed and
photocopied B&W to save $$$. They print 2 to a sheet, so you will have to cut them.

download this and other files here:

http://somnamblst.tripod.com /

Use the BUSH CHEATED to flyer cars or even BETTER...

Buy a can of 3M Super 77 spray adhesive from staples and glue the BUSH CHEATED graphic to metal utility poles, bus stop shelters, advertising benchs, newspaper racks etc. let your inner anarchist express itself. If enough people do this then the masses will become aware AND just like highschool Bush's reputation will be ruined.

This is something we can do RIGHT NOW. No dreaming just ACTION. I've started. I challenge everyone on DU to commit to disseminating at least 10 per day.

I had hoped to plaster Columbus at the rally Dec. 4 with both BUSH CHEATED & Blackwell RECUSE, but the wind was so bad it would have been impossible. I did however do some bus stop shelters and utility poles near campus in Cincinnati Friday and none of my handiwork has been peeled off.

4. Great work, but what my experience has been...
This is all great work, but remember that people are lazy, and how many people actually use payphones anymore? Who's going to happen to have pen and paper handy to take down the URL (though they might remember it).

My experience has been that actually TALKING to people is highly effective:

Here's my routine:

I never leave the house without 1/2 page sized handouts containing relevant urls (helpamericarecount, nov2truth, shadowbox, bigpath, etc.) in my pockets--i.e. readily available.

No matter where I am, no matter who I run into, I strike up some banal conversation with them (nice sweater you're wearing. sure is gettin' cold isn't it?) (dentist's office, dr's office, grocery store, EVERYWHERE)

Casual conversation becomes the the segueway to: So, were you happy with the results of the presidential election?

if the answer is "yes" -- ignore.

If the answer is "no": then my response, "well, did you know there are things you may be able to do to change it?" Then I just start telling them everything I know (always being sure to let THEM speak as well). Then I give them the flyers with the URLS and encourage them to get involved.

Any time I see a kerry sticker on a car: slap, flyer on the windshield.

Three days after I began doing this, Paul at BigPath reported a huge spike in hits to his site. I *think* it's having an effect.

I know it resulted in a lot of people going to OHIO, which I could not do...

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I think it helps counter the internet conspiracy spin to get the word out from one (normal) human being to another.

Steve Baehrman has called this "emerge and see" -- that is, person to person contact, word of mouth, friends telling friends who in turn tell friends.

Of course, our efforts should not be mutually exclusive and EVERYTHING helps.

5. the URL is stolenelection.org so pretty easy to remember and if it causes
them to google anything regarding fraud and the election they will find plenty.

there is only a small percentage of people who will actually actively do something. The flyer campaign is about awareness among Kerry supporters. There aren't a lot of Bush supporters in areas where flyers and graffiti are the norm. I don't do this in the suburbs.

But it's also about ruining chimpies so called win. BUSH CHEATED 04 is the memme.

6. well, every Kerry voter I have spoken to till now
(and I live in the bluest of the blue cities!) has KNOWN beyond a shadow of doubt that bush cheated. What they don't know is

A) that the electoral college doesn't meet until Dec. 12
B) that there are things they can do to get involved (sign petitions, blast media, tell others, write letters to congress, attend protests)
C) that there are tons of evidence
D) that the ultimate day the "fat lady sings" is Jan 20 -- that is, even if the recounts fail and we can prove there was widespread fraud, we can still contest the election

So, you're right, anything to get them on the net and googling--they'll find their own ways of getting informed/and involved. We have to ween them off the TV and MSM and get them down here..once they see what's going on down here, they start taking it to the streets just like we are...

But this is where the "personal discussion" comes in...

Sample conversation:

"yeah, well of course he cheated, we knew that from the beginning, but what we gonna do about it now?"

Well, did you know there are recount efforts and fraud investigations underway?"
Did you know there are petitions circulating on the internet?
Did you know you can support these efforts, either financially or by sending emails through the People's Email Network (this URL is also on my flyers), or simply just by spreading the word? -- tell everyone you know, invite them to visit these websites?.

I live in a pretty economically (and educationally) depressed area, so it's not like everyone I talk to even knows HOW to use the internet (my flyers say: if you do not have internet access at home, try KINKOS or the PUBLIC LIBRARY).

The homeless, for example, represent a huge group that CAN be mobilized, and many of them do know about using the Net at the public library....I've been working with a lot of homeless people

Another idea: place ads and/or flyers in Streetwise.

8. Yeah well I was street canvassing everyday for months before the election
and you aren't going to get that many people to walk up to strangers and start talking. I tried to get lots of Kerry supporters to do just that before Nov. 2 and I got no takers.

This is also about ruining Bush's win.

9. Well, maybe you aren't, but I've gotten people to do just that...
I mean, I talk to strangers every day--with no political agenda--"small talk" -- I talk to the people at the checkout in the grocery store (all the time) -- the only thing that's changed is that NOW I talk to them about election fraud and hand them a flyer--and usually they THANK me, profusely.

I talk to people at the post office all the time, when I'm buying stamps (as I always do, it's just that now I tell them that I'm mailing 900 copies of this flyer here, and that they might want to take a look at it)

I talk to people standing in line at the ATM all the time--small talk, chitchat. Now I just use that same kind of chitchat as a way of opening up the discussion. It's been amazing--I've actually met a lot of new people, made new contacts, begun creating networks I never knew existed and/or were possible.

And even if you can't get people to be as brazen as I truly am, you *can get them to talk to their friends and relatives about it (I made sure my mailing, for example, reached the addressees just in time for Thanksgiving).

When my neighbor invited me up for some dessert on Thanksgiving, I brought the flyers with me--she had about 15 people gathered there, all of whom were black, disenfranchised voters.

I talk to the teachers I work for in the schools, give em flyers.

Yeah, I'm a talker in general and I have no problem addressing strangers, not everyone's going to have that same "personality type" -- but I do know that it is working here and that I have motivated many others to go out and do the same, not only in my city, but nationwide ---

There's no SINGLE answer, I love the idea of putting up BUSH CHEATED flyers, stickers, whatever, but I'm not out to simply "ruin bush's" win--I don't want to see him inaugurated. In order for that to happen, we need mass mobilization of Kerry voters -- active mobilization, not just passive acknowledgement of the fact that Bush cheated.
