DNC and GOTV mess-up by not warning about scams?
Did DNC, Moveon.pac, Act do anything to help people not get scammed by phony voter registrations (Sproul in NV), phony absentee ballot collecters offering to take your ballot in (Ohio, FL), punchcards that don't read or overvoted or undervoted (may have been prepunched)? I suppose a public service message could have been made up by Ad Council or some organization that gets free public airings. We knew the tricks the GOP had up their sleeve. We could have pre-empted some of them. Like Sandra Day O'Connor said in the Bush v Gore "decision". Weren't there posted instructions: Didn't they follow instructions? No, there were no posted instructions about jammed up punchcard machines.

1. Again, the Kissinger piece that talked about how the establishment
can never recognise a revolutionary movement for what it really is.

With all the evidence in the world, the regular Dems still thought all this talk about Black Boxes and so forth was tin foil hat stuff.

Many of them STILL can't beleive it happened.

5. I think you are correct.
That's one reason I want to see Dean take over the DNC. He understands the value of a grassroots organization leveraging the internet. I know the DNC spent lots of bucks on a state-of-art communications war room, but I think they spent $1.96 working the progressive boards and blogs.

Perhaps they should spend some time thinking about how to communicate with their constituency.

Personally, I think they should create a website that is focused on a communications dialogue between the top and the bottom. I'd envision a controlled access website that uses polling, Q&A, legislation education, webcasting, chatroom technology, etc. to engage in both directions.

At the very least, they ought to have people reading/posting to the DU.

2. I agree....a lot of this blame rests on the DNC shoulders.......
Kerry's job was to make the sale....and I believe he did that. But I don't know how engaged the DNC was in protecting our vote.

6. As I pointed out in another post, Greg Palast has been telling
anyone who would listen all the tricks the repukes were going to pull in the election. His lectures and writings were open to everyone and the one thing that he emphasized was that the dems were going have to be alert. He enumerated many ways the repigs were going to steal and suppress votes including not enough machines, broken machines, wrong precinct info, good old fashioned hacking, etc. etc. I personally told every establishment type democratic politico I met for the past year the kinds of things they were going to do -- and I naively thought the DNC were going to have all those lawyers on the ground to PREVENT this kind of crap! Did they really believe Greg and the rest of us were just a bunch to crazy tin foil hatters?
