1. When I went to school to be an Ink-stained Wretch... |

They drummed it into us that we needed to use The Show Leather Express to do our job. These days, (and yes, I do know what I am talking about), the fax machine is the most important tool in the reporter's arsenal. They just sit and wait to see what is coming down the wire.
That's why these guys are functionally clueless. Because they don't have a clue.

3. I believe you, as it is evident when you just open a newspaper, or click |

On to their online sites. The first articles about Ohio in the NY Times and The Washington Post were off of the AP wire.
In so many searches I do on a subject, the search comes up with the same article from dozens of newspapers, mostly credited to AP.
Journalists are one of our only defenses against corrupt government, And to wait to see what comes in on the wire is totally unacceptable. A good correlation to that is media consolidation. The public is hearing only a few voices.
Also taking cues from the lack of interest by Kerry and the DNC as a reason not to report the travesty that was this election, is not only unacceptable, but borders on treasonous in my books.

I know one of the posters from TRRMB was there (thisischer).
I find it beutiful that they can listen like that and give an honest evaluation of what's going on. Good for them! And for each meida leader and editor who realized what we are doing, others have company to join when they make the switch.
I loved the line about people picketing the paper and petitioning the editors with their letters. That was a great move!
Anyway...I did detect some wound licking in the letter. No excuse was offered for the lack of investigative journalism. The data we have all been reviewing was right there on the web. Phones are also good for getting interviews and information. In our shrinking world and age of information, geographical location is no excuse for a lack of initiative in investigative journalism.
