14. I too was shocked that he was competing for media attention yesterday
well I took it that he was being a good Dem and trying to pull progressives away from our main focus right now. I want to care about Dean, but that was an enormous black mark in my book!

18. We can only have ONE main focus?
Dean is trying to save the Democratic Party which, no matter what else happens (except possibly another terrorist attack) WILL be electing a new DNC chair in early March.

I guess saving the Party isn't a worthwhile goal, or activity? Or shouldn't be pursued by anyone until the voting fraud issues are taken care of?

Things are getting even more ridiculous around here. Dean gave precisely the type of speech outlining a vision for the Party that about 99% of DUers would KILL to hear were it coming out of anyone else's mouth. And yet, no one can talk about that. Instead, they have to bash Dean for THE most ridiculous reason I can imagine.

You have to wonder just how loyal to progressive politics and the continued survivial of the left some of these posters are. You really do.

19. looser!

you have the wrong main focus... nobody will be interested in the democratic party if they don't fight against election fraud.

do they have principles? or do they just talk about it?

6. JJ said that Republicans exhibit a "subtle form of disrespect" by ignoring
the issue. I am upset that Dean scheduled a speech to take place while the hearing was still running. I am still aching in my gut from it.

I feel this is tantamount to saying that these issues of vote fraud are not important.

15. What bothers me is Clark selling the war on terror for his personal profit
in comparison Dean speaking about grassroots reform in the democratic party is hardly something to worry about.

8. He may not have a complete understanding yet.

I know I wonder that about Kerry all the time, but, then step back and consider that he was juggling so many issues during the campaign that the responsibility of knowing everything about the machines really should have been the responsibility of those Dems who had the working knowledge and the time to deal with it. I'm not sure that Dean had completely got it as an issue even though he gave it a whirl a few times.

I'm surprised that Al Gore didn't jump on the voting machine issue when it first came out. He really does have strong connections to the heavyweights in the computer industry and a strong grasp on software issues.

Maybe they all will work on it now.

17. then of course there is Kerry
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 02:54 PM by Cheswick2.0
He was the candidate wasn't he? But lets depend on Dean and Gore to do his job, that makes sense. By your logic Kerry knows nothing about the issue since he has never delt with it at all.

9. It's very simple folks
You just are not going to find anyone of stature thats has anything to lose jumping on the bandwagon here unless bonafide solid evidence of serious fraud surfaces. These people have long term future political aspirations and they are not going to jeopardize that over something that is at this point speculation and conjecture.

11. That was my question. But mostly because he KNOWS the inner workings of
the computer/software industry and would more easily get the import of the problem.

I truly believe he's has every intention in the world of runing in 2008. According to WAPO he has already set up some PAC orgs.

16. He does know about this
My colleage has been in touch with his cousin who talked to him about being the voice for the fraud problems but it's been heavily hinted that he is thinking his voice would be better heard if he was the chair of the DNC. Politics suck.
