E-Mail from Chris Gregoire
Hi all,

Saw a quick supporter in my e-mail in my box from the (cross your fingers) next Governor of Washington and thought I would share.

Dear Friend,

I want to thank you again for your support and update you on the latest developments in the governor’s race.

As you have probably heard by now, tens of thousands of people from across the state and country contributed to fund a hand count of all the votes. The support has been incredible, allowing the Democratic Party to request a hand count of the entire state.

From the beginning, this has been about getting every legitimate vote counted. We are now on our way to that goal.

You may have also heard that the Democratic Party has gone to the Supreme Court to fix mistakes that kept legitimate votes from being counted before. The Party believes that there should be the same rules for counting ballots in every county across the state. That way, a ballot in Spokane will be treated the same as a ballot in Snohomish.

Although I am not a part of the Party’s case, I do agree that every valid vote should be counted. We should be protecting votes, not searching for ways to exclude them.

That message is resonating with the people of Washington state. Over the weekend, literally thousands of people showed up at observer trainings across the state and said, “We want every vote to be counted.”

With the race still too close to call, the hand count will allow the winner to take office with confidence and legitimacy.

One way you can continue to help our efforts is to take a minute to write a letter to your local paper. If you believe every vote should count, let your views be known.

In the meantime, I continue to work on my transition, laying the groundwork to fulfill our campaign commitments: increased access to health care (especially for our children), better public schools and quality jobs across the state.

Thanks again for your support and interest. I will write again soon.

Regards,

Chris

1. Fingers crossed. Where would Gregoire's hopes be if it weren't for
...the grassroots support? No thanks to the Dem Party, it seems.

4. Cripes. If there's one thing that I cannot stand is when authors
of some document or whatever assume stuff about their audience. And here Gregoire does that. Surprisingly, too, since she's a lawyer and a state Attorney General for how many terms? Two?

Well, it's the state (of Washington) Supreme Court Gregoire was talking about not the U.S. Supreme Court . . . here's more on it (and a hell of a lot better explanation about the subject matter than this Gregoire emailing) at:

6. I guess you get used to thinking everyone knows which court
you are talking about. Before you mentioned it, I didn't realize how that could throw some folks off. Thanks for the link!! :) -G
