IDEA! Undercover Repugs....
:evil grin:

This idea occurred to me after someone posted a thread about the "outward appearance" and respectability of people attending and speaking at the Conyers forum. It is also inspired by recent sightings of Michael Moore in a business suit.

As someone with an advanced degree from a prestigious private institution, it occurred to me that I have a closet full of very "Republican looking" suits and could easily pass for a Repuke if I wanted to.

So how about this (it won't work for me, I live in Chicago; we DI D NOT vote for the Shrub; REPUKES NOT WELCOME HERE). But, for those of you in so-called red states, for those of you having to deal with Repukes: How bout this:

PRETEND you voted for Bush and seek to convince your fellow Republicans how utterly horrified you are to find out that the person you put in office (or his representatives) may have engaged in criminal felony behavior to "win" the election.

(I've said it elsewhere: My wardrobe does not jibe with my politics, but what the hell, only my dry cleaner knows!) :silly:

Might be worth a shot.

1. I live in a red state and I'm not a very good actor
but it is an interesting idea. Instead, I carry around military recruiting business cards and enlistment contracts. I offer to drive bush supporters to the recruting office to sign up for war in Iraq. (big surprise, no takers) I tell them that bush deserted to avoid a drug test. I tell them that lying and hating are obvious conservative values. I tell them they are fucking ignorant morons for voting against their own interests. I also tell them if they want to use the constition as a weapon there will be a revolution in this country and we'll find out just how tough a bunch of pussified conservatives are. I like my way fine and dandy.

5. Hate to go biblical on you, but
To each his own.

I really don't have to deal with Repugs (ever), so I can't relate to your dilemma. I just think right now, if we can get them on board, we need them--so I'd rather seek to persuade than to piss off.

I have no problem with LATER throwing them overboard with a ton of bricks attached to their necks, either. But the matter is urgent, pressing, we need all the help we can get.

Everyone tells me it's just my "environment" that leads me to believe there are far fewer of them than "public opinion" estimates. (Immediately after the election, I suspected that perhaps 40 million voted for Bush; at this point, I suspect the number is much lower than that).

I don't know where all these Bush voters are hiding--I've spoken with literally thousands of people throughout my city, in different environments, different contexts, I have only met 3 people who admit to having voted for Bush.

Lucky me, huh?

The Electronic machines without a hard print out are ILLEGAL according to Federal law.. the Recount must be Witnessed.. that cant be done. but they have a mandate from their God to win no matter how.

3. It only works if everyone you know
doesn't ALREADY know that you are an enormous raving liberal. :silly:

I can look awfully Repukelike, too, when necessary. Hey, I'm in bidness.... gotta dress the part on occasion.

8. raving liberal? ....
I guess the word is out: everyone I know knows that I'm a stark-raving lunatic flaming RADICAL ( I was born that way!) -- it's hard to convince them that I actually voted for KERRY.

4. Better: get real Republicans

Here's a better idea. Rather than lying, why not talk honestly to real Republicans (note: don't call them "Repukes" to their face; it is considered rude). Stick to the facts. Tell them that it isn't about getting Kerry into office, but getting any and all cheats out of the system. Point out that there have been cases of Democrats breaking the rules as well.

Point out to them that all Americans, regardless of party, have a vested interest in making sure that elections are fair and honest. The only reason anyone could reasonably oppose this is if they personally cheated, or suspect that their party did and winning is more important to them then their integrity is.

"Clear the innocent, nail the guilty" is a strong meme in Republican circles. I should know; I'm a life-long Republican (not a Neo-con) from a deeply red state. And I want justice to be served.

7. Yes, yes, yes....
I think this is an excellent strategy and anyone who has the means to engage it should be doing it.

As I said, I'd do it if I could find them, and I've been looking for them ever since before the election, I don't know where they are hiding

16. Where to find Republicans
I've been looking for them ever since before the election, I don't know where they are hiding

<joke>
Try not to look like an exit poll taker. I hear we're scared to death of them.
</joke>

Christmas parties?

Standing in line at the grocery store? (One time I did this, I started the conversation by picking up a magazine with Bush on the cover, shaking my head, and saying "Man, he's got balls!"--when the guy behind me agreed, I followed with "Claiming a 'mandate' with all the rigged voting machine--of course, maybe he's counting on Mr. 'Every vote will be counted' wussing out. Not so much balls as knowing your opponent."--and suddenly we were having a conversation about it).

At work? Or school?

I've heard it help to wear a t-shirt (e.g. "Live Free or Diebold"), but I haven't gone that far myself.

Remember, even in the bluest states one out of three people you meet will be a Republican, and visa versa.

10. I like the way you think! It made me think of something -- how
about some phony emails? Say we are republicans and upset - thought * was a good christian -- how could he do these dirty things?

13. I recently suggested that to a friend in a PM, but she said
that might be problematic if anyone is a "registered" dem or rep.

To the best of my knowledge, I'm not registered anywhere as anything ...

(stark-raving lunatic radical is not a valid category, I guess)

But I do think these sorts of "undercover" ops are a good idea.

(Geez, just think how much damage I could do if I were a bonafide Raving Rover!)

It's not something I'd be able to get away with -- my name is "out there" (in too many publications, both online and off), on the record for what it is. But I do encourage others to do this.

i don't think people should invent identities, I think they should write under their own names -- invented identities are a bad strategy, imo. But, unless you're a registered rep or dem, no one knows who you voted for, unless you've told them.

(and if there are repugs reading this: read it and weep, arrest me you f*ckers, I've got a pocketful of arsenic pills for the eventuality!)

11. I live in NC
I live in one of the many rural counties where Bush won. In fact, I can only tell that Kerry won in a single county (Durham). Most of the people I know that voted for Bush don't really care for him but they liked Kerry even less. This is mostly due to the character assassinations and the painting of liberals as deviants that seems to have started during the campaign for Reagan's second term. Most of the people around me were voting for Bush for the sake of the troops (or so they thought). This, along with the fact that NC was mostly ignored, even by Edwards, left some people feeling like they didn't have a choice.

A great friend of mine's work had required him to move to Boston several years before B* took office. On his way to LA, on September 11, 2001, the American fight he was on was the first to hit the Towers.

At the service, my friend's Dad reminded me that my friend would want the US to retaliate by understanding the problems that caused the attack in the first place. This friend would not have approved of violence or war. In fact, I know that he would have objected to letting anyone use his death as an excuse to spread violence and fear.

What I saw B* and team doing after 911 made me certain that the current administration and their kind were wrong for the US as they were for humanity in general.

As hard as I tried, I have had the most difficult time explaining this to my friends in NC and SC.

If the danger of the current administration isn't obvious to you already then when will it ever be?

Sorry, I realize this isn't about Election Fraud issues. Your thread just reminded me how frustrating this situation can be.

14. This is really a heart-wrenching story, thank you for sharing it
I have a friend in a rural area who said that one of the Shrub supporters she talked to said, "Well, Kerry he isn't even Christian."

Isn't Christian?

He's a CATHOLIC.

But, here's some ammo for the Christian front: compare the church attendance records of Shrub vs. Kerry. Kerry REGULARLY attends mass. bush doesn't. He just reads daily devotionals from some 19th century evangelical twit whose name I can't recall off the bat.
