Hey ! I miss * !!
Allow me a superficial moment here. What happened to calling the resident * ? It's an honored DU tradition, indicating that he is not truly elected, and a mere * in the history books. Lately, I've seen too many references to him as "Bush". What's next? Our President?

Hey, if the chimp didn't deserve a name or title after 2000, he's done nothing to deserve it since. He stole it again, people. He's even more of * than before!

Of course, you're welcome to call him whatever you want, but he'll ALWAYS be * or chimp to me.:)

1. I call him "the craven lying mass-murdering war criminal"
but that's just telling the truth.

4. I find Bush and * pretty much the same
Because of the whole family thing - Dad, W, Jeb etc, which Bush are you talking about when you say Bush - doesn't matter.

14. The asterisk represents...
...the asterisk (or two) that he will always have after his name in the history books for not being legitimately elected.

17. I thought it was just that his name was too evil to mention...

They should have a humorous "must read" section (beyond rules and FAQ) for all of us newbies - you know, a little history, explain the abbreviations, the "don't go there" topics, and the lingo.

I think I've got most of it now.

8. That reminds me of one HUGE mistake by the Dems
The "Anyone But *" slogan gave * way too much press. It should remind one of the saying, "No publicity is bad publicity." Did the creators of this slogan not realize that they'd be giving * free advertising?

we need to come across, when we get heard, in a respectable way.

Focus on the task.. getting the word out.. and planning Protests!

23. how about "rover" or "spot"?
then if we ever saw him in person (god forbid)... we could go "<whistle, whistle> here spot! Who's a good boy?! yes you are yes you are! Spot wanna go after the stick? huh? the stick? go fetch!"

We could get whole groups of people... I can see it... everybody slapping their knees and whistling. "Here boy! Here boy!"

25. I prefer * to "Chimp" though the advantage of "Bush" is that
we don't make the mistake of stooping to the tactics of Bush/* (the people he doesn't like represent an "axis of evil!") and like-minded indivis( and Rush Limbaugh calls me a "feminazi")

And, as an advocate of civil discourse in general, I think calling a person by their actual name reflects:

1) a willingness to see a person as a person, no matter that we reject every single thing he stands for

2) an ability to play a clean rhetorical game (name calling is always suspect, and for good reason, I think...)

3) a willingness to consider the possibility that Bush is a hazard as a president, but may make a fine retired bug collector on a ranch somewhere... (note: i only said "consider the possibility"-- i'm making an argument for a certain kind of mind, here!!)

26. perhaps a better idea:
I think instead of typing either * or Bush, maybe either Bush or Satan should be used (try the links). This way google will help us spread the word.

27. It's less funny to me now, I guess.
I used to call him *, but lately I've been calling him his real name.

I feel less like joking around.

Hope my sense of humor returns soon!
